On today's Rock it Out! Blog episode, I review the new album from Van Halen, A Different Kind Of Truth . The best way to describe this album is to compare it to an American muscle car. It's strong, fast, nice to look at and rides like a demon. It's a great comeback album from a band we haven't heard from in 14 years. What are your thoughts on the album?

The new single from Bruce Springsteen, "We Take Care Of Our Own," is still a track that I'm not a fan of. The Boss's way of phrasing the lyrics just throws me off a bit. Yes I know that sounds a bit snobby but I'm someone that pays attention to stuff like that...so there. In any case, Springsteen has released a music video for the track which you can check out down below. The Boss plays his guitar in a black and white world while celebrating the hard working people of the U.S.A and [...]

Heaven's Basement El Ten Eleven Hunters

Deftones bassist Chi Cheng, who was involved in a car accident in November of 2008 that left him in a vegetative state, is continuing to show signs of improvement and has even awoken from a semi-comatose state. Down below, you can check out a video of Cheng being able to raise his leg on command. It's a hopeful sign but he's not out of the woods yet. He still can't communicate verbally but can open his eyes from time to time and see and hear things around him. Cheng is currently in a facility [...]

You guys know the Foo Fighters' single, "Rope," was remixed by Deadmau5, right? Well it looks like we're going to see that remix done live at the Grammy awards this year. Dave Grohl and the Foos will perform alongside the Mau5 as well as David Guetta and Lil' Wayne in a tribute to electronic music during the ceremony which takes place on CBS on Sunday, February 12. The performance will take place outside of the Staples Center in Los Angeles. I'm not really a big fan of the remix, which you can [...]
Metallica creates summer music festival Adam Lambert in Queen? The Black Keys - "Gold On The Ceiling" OK Go - "Needing/Getting" Coldplay - "Charlie Brown" Sasquatch Music Festival line up

Metallica has done many things in their day but have never curated and headlined their own two-day festival...until now. Taking place in Atlantic City, New Jersey on June 23rd and 24th at Bader field, the festival will feature 'Tallica headlining both nights and they will be performing both The Black Album and Ride The Lightning in its entirety. The festival will include 22 bands hand selected by the band to perform. The line up is quite interesting as it mixes the worlds of metal and [...]

Awww look at Killswitch Engage. They just look so happy, all smiles and...hey, is that Jesse Leach?! There it is, everyone. Former KSE frontman Jesse Leach has rejoined the band after the departure of Howard Jones who replaced Leach back in 2002 . The band posted the above picture at their official website . So far there's no other news about the reunion of Leach and KSE but we should still expect a brand new album from the band later this year. You can check out all their upcoming [...]

Behold the newest video from The Black Keys for their latest single, "Gold On The Ceiling," from their insane new album, El Camino . It's pretty standard fare when it comes to this vid; just a bunch of live shots of the band performing on stage, including their record release party in NYC, and antics backstage. Check it out down below.

The second solo album from Slash is set to be released on May 22nd via his own label, Dik Hayd International. While the album has no title or track listing yet, it will only feature his touring band this time including Alter Bridge guitarist Myles Kennedy, drummer Brent Fitz and bassist Todd Kerns. Down below, you can check out video of the band working together in the recording studio. Unlike his debut album, which featured a different singer on almost every track, Slash explained in an interview that this album was all done in house. [...]

This is probably OK Go's most ambitious video to date and you know these guys love to make them some out of this world music videos . Up top you can check out the video for "Needing/Getting" which features the primary color wearing foursome inside of a Chevy Sonic driving around a desert. Seems simple, right? Well wait until you see what the car mixed with the driving skills of frontman Damian Kulash plus musical instruments placed on a specific course can do.

Yeah you just read the headline and probably started shaking your fist and screaming. Calm down, son, it's not bad news at all. Rolling Stone has confirmed that American Idol alum Adam Lambert will be the new frontman for the legendary rock band Queen. Now I know some young, ignorant rock fans will shriek in horror at this news and will call for Lambert to perish in a terrible way while pining for the spirit of Freddie Mercury to return to earth and take his rightful place [...]

Down below, you can check out the video for the new single from Coldplay, "Charlie Brown." From the looks of it, seeing Coldplay live during a rave is much more fun than dancing to club music. But then, when you're hopped up on everything from X to MDMA, seeing Coldplay live while strobe lights and lasers flash around you would probably be the time of your life.

The annual Sasquatch festival, definitely a festival that I need to attend in the very near future, announced a killer line up for this year's installment. Recently solo Jack White, along with Beck and Bon Iver, will be headlining the George, WA based three-day event. Also leading the way are Pretty Lights, Tenacious D, The Shins, Girl Talk, St. Vincent, Feist, and Silversun Pickups. But that's not all who you'll get to see at the Gorge Ampitheatre this year. Also performing this year are Metric, Mogwai, Explosions In The Sky, The Head [...]

Just like the Phoenix...um, I mean Fenix, Tenacious D will rise again! Or so says Jack Black in a new track from the D appropriately called "Rize Of The Fenix" (via CoS ). It's a short track that doesn't even breach 50 seconds and all acoustic as Black sings about the band's woes after their 2006 film, The Pick Of Destiny , was panned by the critics. But the band's resilience continues to spiral upwards as we should expect to get a brand new album from Black and Kyle Gass in May. [...]

Looks like Dave Grohl is getting into the sitcom business. According to Deadline , Grohl and comedian Dana Gould are currently developing a sitcom for FX. Grohl is set to be the executive producer while Gould will write and star in the show. The show will focus on a rock band who has to seek therapy in order to avoid breaking up. Problem is the therapist is a negative nancy whose already going through his own problems with his divorce. Cue laugh track/applause sign. It'd be insane to [...]
