So it's Easter Sunday, when some of us eat ham, some of us go to our local religious establishment, some of us won't change our routine at all. Either way, it's finally warm (mid 602s) and sunny in Chicago, so I thought I would share a few pleasant tunes to rock out to. These will be the perfect audible companions for you while your coloring eggs, eating more ham, or pointing at the creepy guy, dressed like a monster Peter Cottontail . First, we have the infectiously beautiful and talented Sophie Madeleine, with her whisically happy, folk-pop [...]

My last post I started with a pretty simple, _____ is happening often, and I would have it no other way. Lee Fields & The Expressions represents another wave of beauty that is really putting the cream in my twinkie these days: amazing quality, passionate, talented, contemporary soul and funk. This kind of music is just genuine . It's the kind of music that, no one that considers them a true music fan of all genres, can say "ya, that's not good". I could give this to truckers, underground-art hipsters, my local tamale delivery man, [...]

![[VIDEO] Mark Foster, A-Trak, and Kimbra: Warrior](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4183657_lg.jpg)
Thumping and bumping, bright and twinkling, sultry and seductive, 'Warrior' is what a collaboration is meant to be. Take the best of each artist and make something that could easily be a single from each artist, but a stretch for each one just the same. A-Trak adds a big bass back bone to Foster The People 's usually warm and cool synth sound, while Kimbra 's voice gives 'Warrior a powerful and seductive tone. The video is a fun, color soaked adventure into the seedy world of back alley Mexican wrestling. [...]

He stormed into our headphones last year with his debut single "Mr. General", now Archeo is back with his latest pop offering – "Glass Half Empty". A catchy melody instantly fueling the dancer in me, and lyrics that have me singing along. To tease us into the track the Dublin based duo, Arveene & MiSK have reworked the single into a turbo charged electronic banger. Having remixed for some huge names over the past two years these guys really know what they're doing. Their beat heavy remix coupled with Archeo's pure pop vocals and [...]

The members of Carousel began producing/playing music together in Boston while attending Berklee College of Music. They developed a unique sound that combines the drive of electro with the melodic sensibilities of indie pop. "Where Have You Gone" by Carousel doesn't just hit home. It climbs the curb, takes the landscaping underneath it's tires and crashes into my living room. It recognizes the need for a grieving process but also has such mending qualities for the brokenhearted. Check it out below, and grab the download, here . [...]

Mesita is the solo-project of James Cooley, an unsigned 24-year-old musician from Denver, Colorado. The Coyote was written, performed, and recorded alone in a house down in Austin, TX over the last six months, and is available in full at Bandcamp and iTunes . "Onward Upward was a track that started out back in 2009. I had the basic rhythm and melody down but never wrapped it up to where it sounded done. The song sat around for a while and only really began to fit while recording this album. It ended up having [...]

Songs can be like horoscopes. They sometimes have us pegged. Deee-lite always had me pegged so these songs, that don't pull the band-aide off slow, seem at least lyrically fitting. But they do have uplifting beats to balance ignoring the sting! The following words are funny as hell, but not my own . Still, it's an entertaining look into our zodiac signs. Do you agree? What sign are you? "Aries rarely say one thing and do another. They usually do the wrong thing and don't discuss it. The Taurus is [...]

I've been a fan of Super Mario Bros-esque video game sound effects well, since I played those games on regular Nintendo. Nowadays it's nostalgic and a genre - 8 bit! No wait - chiptune! That's what the kids are calling it. Anyways, I digress. This Ghost Loft track reeled me in with the Nintendo style noises in the introduction and kept me interested with the Postal Service style lyrics of longing! It's a fun and romantical electronic tune that literally slows down time at the end. You should visit Ghost Loft's website . It's totally kissable! [...]

The debut, self-titled project, "Shadows on Stars" packs a thirteen song punch. Highlight: "Sweat Pant Bandits." A do-not-disturb slumber party with the Grease musical playing in the background. But instead of Sandra Dee going on about her shit, Randa Smith and Brian Vincent remind us of something wonderful. There's nothing like having someone to close the shutters with. Sassy Swede Karin Park 's new single "Restless" off of her debut album Highway Poetry is an adventure for your ears. If you're like me and come up with odd visuals while listening to music this song is a total party, Project X style. The intro puts me into a futuristic arcade where professional gamers are poised for some intense virtual reality gran turismo racing. Then Karin's voice comes in and you think "uh oh. we're in trouble. this gal is playing mind games on us with her pouty, electro vocal chords!" I kind of don't know what she's [...]

![[EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE] HandS: Wake Up](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4171987_lg.jpg)
Kick Kick Snare is very excited to premiere 'Wake Up', the brand new single from the incredibly talented pop duo of HandS . Sophie and Håkon have been making brilliant pop music together for years now and gave us the EPIC single 'No Romance' last fall. Since then the two have been working in tandem on both sides of the North Sea and finally back together in London. Over the past months they have been working hard on at least ten new songs. Every snippet and working version I have heard is incredible, so you can imagine just how [...]

I don't know about most of the blogosphere, but I LOVE the simple concept of creating a new piece of visual work to coincide with each single release. "Another Lost Apache" is the perfect example of this a/v ecstacsy, it replicates their patented "Bat Shit Funk" sound, as if the above photo could communicate like the painting in Ghost Busters 2 . Beginning with a beautifully crafted, religious hymnal intro, your then smacked with a tidal-sound wave of percussion, synth and vocal harmonies. Stats - hailing from Oxford, Fixers are releasing their debut album on May 21st, which weirds [...]
