Down Down Down by Tiger Waves Reid from Tiger Waves hit me up like a month ago. I did nothing with it though. Until this moment. Something dubbed "cosmic surf rock" and they like all the lo-fi, I'm likening it to the garage kids meet the jam elements, so something like Turbo Fruits teamed with Holiday Shores. New Deckfight Press book is out today from Josh Rank. If you're a long time Deckfight reader, you've seen his stuff on the site. Here are his posts . In Reaction to Distractions by Norman! Norman! is from Northport, NY wherever that is. Doesn't matter, b/c I'm diggin this new EP from them entitled Ride Our Bikes, Fly Our Kites . Childhood innocence, jaded 21st century living, complaints (or is that admiration?) over Will Ferrell makes for upbeat & math-y post rock, but not in a technical way, more like in a throw-your-calculator-down-the -slide way. Sicker by Dan Webb and the Spiders Don't really dive much into the New England scene, but that's where all the punx live, so can't help that. Here's Dan Webb and The Spiders, which sounds like some crap bar band playing at 3 in the afternoon on a non-fest day, but Dan and whomever the spiders are have this rockabilly kick in a Titus Andronicus over-fuzzed fuss, and though the melody line could be a little cleaner, this "Sicker" song is pretty sweet.
