After a two year wait, Deer Tick's sophomore release Born On Flag Day is finally fast approaching. John Joseph McCauley III & co. have been touring pretty religiously since the release of War Elephant so it's good to finally hear what the full band incarnation of Deer Tick is capable of. Born On Flag Day is set to be released June 23rd via Partisan Records . Have a listen to two tracks from the album, "The Ghost" and "Song About A Man." Enjoy " Song [...]

Dinosaur Jr.'s newest album Farm is set for a June 24th release. It is the band's first effort since 2007's Beyond . Here is the pleasantly fuzzed-out and guitar solo infused "Friends" from the new record for your listening pleasure. "Friends" by Dinosaur Jr. —————————– ———— Share and Enjoy:

I have never been shy when it has come to my admiration for North Carolina's rustic-wonders Bowerbirds . Their new album, Upper Air , is set for a July 7th release courtesy Dead Oceans . Consisting of denser arrangements and the uncharacteristic usage of additional instrumentation, the new album is a worthy follow up to 2007's gem Hymns For A Dark Horse . Here are a few tracks from the new album, "House Of Diamonds" and "Beneath Your Tree." The band has been playing "House of Diamonds" during their live shows for a while now, but [...]
After an extended hiatus, Boston-based Christians & Lions have returned and are set to hit up the eastern seaboard this summer with a slew of fresh tour dates. Before they hit the road the band will be performing July 26th at the Middle East Upstairs to celebrate the release of their newest EP Bird's Milk . More details to come on the album when I get them. In honor of their revival, the band is giving away their discography to date on their new 'DIY' website. More Songs For Dreamsleepers and The [...]

Seattle natives The Cave Singers have released the first track off their next album. The folk trio are releasing their second album, Welcome Joy , in August on Matador Records. Do enjoy. "Beach House" by The Cave Singers —————————–

Have a listen to the wonderful first single off of Scherezadian. How this band is without an American label is beyond me. Regardless the self-released effort is full of gems. "Lowiza" is just one of them. "Lowiza" by The Lovely Feathers —————————–

Have a listen to the opening track from Sunset Rubdown's soon to be released Dragonslayer . It may be my favorite track from Krug's side project to date, and the album as a whole is much more consistent than Random Spirit Lover in my opinion. Feel free to share your thoughts on the song or the album as a whole if you have already heard it. "Silver Moons" by Sunset Rubdown —————————–

Scott Reitherman and friends will be releasing their second full-length, Creaturesque in August. Here's the first single from the record, "Ancestors." "Ancestors" by Throw Me The Statue —————————–

If you haven't gotten sick of Grizzly Bear yet, then this is certainly worth a listen. Fred Falke provides an upbeat, dance-infused remix brings new life to what is already one of my most listened to songs of the summer. Enjoy. "Two Weeks [Fred Falke Remix]" by Grizzly Bear

One of the creepiest and captivating videos I have seen in some time. A fine addition to what is by all means the standout track from Veckatimest. HD Video after the jump: enjoy:

I am a little behind in the game, but Oklahoma's Other Lives have crafted themselves quite a fantastic record with their self-titled debut full-length. Released way back on April 17th on TBD Records, I just happened to stumble upon Other Lives about two weeks ago by chance. Here's two selections from the album I have been enjoying immensely as of late, opener "E Minor" and the gorgeously morose "Paper Cities." "E Minor" by Other Lives "Paper Cities" by Other Lives [...]

New York's Cymbals Eat Guitars self-released debut Why There Are Mountains screams of better days for indie rock. At its best moments, it is reminiscent of The Lonesome Crowded West , You Forgot It In People and Perfect From Now On. At its barest, it's still an ambitiously crafted debut by a band that sounds seasoned well beyond its years. It's strangely proverbial, yet oddly novel in its own right. One listen to WTAM and it's clear that Cymbals Eat Guitars are not wide-eyed 20-somethings playing with their high [...]
