After a two year wait, Deer Tick's sophomore release Born On Flag Day is finally fast approaching. John Joseph McCauley III & co. have been touring pretty religiously since the release of War Elephant so it's good to finally hear what the full band incarnation of Deer Tick is capable of. After an extended hiatus, Boston-based Christians & Lions have returned and are set to hit up the eastern seaboard this summer with a slew of fresh tour dates. I am a little behind in the game, but Oklahoma's Other Lives have crafted themselves quite a fantastic record with their self-titled debut full-length. New York's Cymbals Eat Guitars self-released debut Why There Are Mountains screams of better days for indie rock. At its best moments, it is reminiscent of The Lonesome Crowded West , You Forgot It In People and Perfect From Now On.
