I'm really digging Dark Sky 's remix of Bombay Cycle Club track "Lights Out Words Gone." Now I want to go out on a limb here and say he's taken and decent song and made it fantastic and that is what remixing is all about to me. No offence if you happen to love the original, it just never hit me as anything special. I liked it but didn't love it. Dark Sky's version has some really nice elements going on here and I'm feeling it big time. It represents everything I love in minimal electro, placing [...]

You'd better know and if you don't know, GET TO KNOW. MYRRYRS keeps it sweet and simple - so much so that it seems stupidly effortless, but it's not. It's this new bass, rnb hybrid thing but with a clever angle - twisted vocals and everything super slowed down so it bring about this dark vibe. It's an acquired taste to some, but I'm telling you, this is the future. Ep comes packed with a sweet remix from Bambounou , (one of my fav french DJs I keep covering on this blog) and Teki [...]

So the FirstAndForever Fest organized by Dr Martens is still going on. Its a series of instore gigs around the UK featuring some awesome and upandcoming bands. This Thursday, Wild Mercury Sound will be making an appearance at the Spitalfields branch. I'm really looking forward to the Rolo Tomassi one in Leeds on 20th of October though. Those guys are mental. The instore shows are free but you know, they're in a store so space is limited. Anyway Agyness Deyn and Ash Stymest (two of my fav models) star in the photos for [...]

Guy Andrews is a name you need to take note. The Brighton DJ's Your Notion EP was recently released by Swedish label, Discobelle a few weeks back and I still can't get enough. Stripped back, mid-tempo house with plenty of organic percussion play - basic, this EP is most definitely not. 2 standout tracks on this 4 song ep is Your Notion and the faster tempo Unita with the bleepy breakdown. Tight and smooth at the same time. Listen: [Guy Andrews - Your Notion] [...]

If you like your pop quirky and Scandinavian then you will like this. The Norwegian band, Casiokids are giving away their new single, Det Haster ("it hastens or it's urgent") for free. Upcoming album is not set for launch yet till 2012 but the single is ready for release on October 24th and features a remix by Of Montreal . This is not the first time that Of Montreal has collaborated with Casiokids - both bands have done a split ep and played shows together previously. Listen and then download: [ [...]

The zany London 3some that is TEETH (or T3ETH ) is playing Nation of Shopkeepers in Leeds again on the 5th of October . The last time they were there was for the VICE launch, so, for those who missed that, here's your chance to catch these guys live. The album, Whatever was released just last week and they're currently on tour , if you aint in Leeds check that link for other dates. We've got this free giveaway from them - it's a remix by Gross Magic for their track [...]

WATCH THE VIDEO in this post before you do anything else becuase 1) the track SICKO is awesome and 2) its quite an awesome footage. Rattail hail from Canada and can I just say that it's so refreshing to see a female lead singer on guitars. I like the DIY, shambolicness of it all. Jasmyn's voice is just amazing. It's not everyday that you find bands like this in your inbox so thank you, Unfamiliar Records, again. Totally fallen in love with them. Now watch the fucking video: [Rattail - Sicko] [...]

Disco Nutter a producer and DJ hailing from Sofia, Bulgaria is putting out some super bass heavy Dubstep and Funky right now. There are alot of great elements going on in each of these tracks, his taste is all across the board and he has a great way of incorporating them into his music. Disco Nutter on Beatport.com [Disco Nutter & Roka - Spectre] This whole Lp Just blows my mind. Max Tannone from New York City throwing down some crazy funky remix's of [...]

Got this new 3 days ago, sad times. DANANANANAYKROYD has announced that they will split up after their upcoming (and last) tour. The Glaswegian band will also digitally release a single for the last time on 7th November. It's called Think & Feel taken from their 2nd album, There Is A Way, produced by Ross Robinson in LA. You can hear it here . Was it the extensive promotion, touring and shows that caused this decision? All we know is that they "all still love each other very much". Good to know. Here's [...]

Firstly, my apologies, and many of them for not having written anything for a while. If there are any personal grievances please get in contact with me and I'll happily make amends, through manual labour, washing dishes, dog walking, hair pruning, under arm tickling……whatever really. The point being I feel bad, the summer ran away with me and maybe most notably I have only just returned from a stint in Ibeeefffaaa!! Still slightly broken and bewildered I move forward with a positive attitude, repeating the mantra "I am fine I am fine, I do not feel like crying" over [...]

A gem to sort out this shitty Sunday afternoon. Unfamiliar Records dropped the lowdown on Rituals ' upcoming new EP. (Rituals is not to be confused with Ritualz by the way, people.) I don't know why but the inner hipster in me is connecting with this band. I like the hazy photography, the chillwave-y vocals, how everything is so lo-fi and spaced out that the aural assault you'd expect to hit you straight, instead cushions you, buffering everything out, kinda like a drugged out afternoon, which is kinda like what I'm feeling right now at [...]

Nearly got knocked off my fucking bike because some fucking road maniac couldn't have his way. Anyway. We are back. It's been hectic this past couple of weeks, I don't really wanna to go into too much detail, but it involves a lot of offline fun, mainly organizing clubnights, supporting DIY shows (there's loads recently coz the students are back) and Leeds is alive and buzzing again. Vice mag is doing their book launch at Nation of Shopkeepers tomorrow, and I was psyched to find out that Washed Out IS PLAYING A SHOW AT MY FAVORITE VENUE, the [...]

DJ Mehdi has apparently died from an accident when part of a stage fell on top of him. Heard it from Digikid84 's facebook profile first and then his twitter , and then twitter went mad with the rumour (it's in fact trending right now), with a lot of people replying back to me when I asked for clarification and then this french news article came out . Cool Cats have not released any official statement to confirm the rumour yet and nobody knows yet if this is true but if it is, [...]

Last Friday was just fucking incredible. Crosswave, which is our clubnight that we co-organize with the guys from Deathray was absolutely massive. For one night, we transformed the entire upstairs bit of Bar Room Bar in Leeds into a dark, smoky lair with our smoke machines, lasers and visuals and pump out the kind of dark new wave sounds that you have not heard in a long, long time.Alongside the usual Morrissey, Bauhaus, Joy Division stuff, we also played some stuff you've seen on this blog like Ulterior , Aaren Reale , Ritualz , [...]

Yeah! Dish Records just dropped this free download by Le Crayon . It's a fun, funky remix of Joey Negro 's (Dave Lee) & Gramophonedzie 's (Marko Milicevic) No Sugar feat. Shea Soul and it's meant to get you upbeat and ready for Friday tomorrow. Download it while it's still available: [Joey Negro & Gramophonedzie - No Sugar feat. Shea Soul (Le Crayon Remix)] Buy No Sugar here . [...]

More drum and bass, courtesy of Nuage . I guarantee you will be feeling this tonight. Nuage goes deep and does it so well - nice buildups, liquid vibes and plenty of soulful vocals. This one below is taken from the Anywhere Here LP out via Absys Records which also features Getz . Do not pass this free download up: [Nuage - Kinda Lost (Dominic Ridgeway Remix)] Nuage showcasing his sweet, soulful side: [Nuage - We can Be Free] [...]

This one is a bit late. Getz is your man, if you like your drum n bass deep, dark and athmospheric. There's just something about Russian dnb and dubstep producers that keeps me locked in (check this post on B.Soul when you get the chance). They're always keeping things fresh. Getz's has got that clean, smooth style, playing with a lot of deep, dark textured sounds, rich percussions. And when the drops arrive, they're not the typical drops you'd expect, rather it's more subtle, stripped back and minimal. Getz and friends, Nuage [...]

Hailing from Mexico City, Ritualz 's sound is an unlikely marriage of genres, something that you'd never think would work but it does, and very fucking well too. A merciless blend of black metal vocals, noise, rave synths and hip hop beats, he has been getting a lot of attention lately, especially with the use of that hipster-y triple crosses logo †‡† which I nearly overdosed on - they're everywhere. Gimmicky logos aside, the music speaks for itself: its dance music essentially, dance music for the dead, trance synths burning in a hellish athmosphere, cuts of digitalized double bass pedal [...]
