Found this free ep giveaway by Marshal. via Manifesto Music and it's another drum and bass release. This is an effective 3 track introduction to Marshal.'s versatile style: he swings from a simple starter to lush liquid dnb in the middle and then ends on a darker track. The last track in particular, is a killer - Restless sounds like it's going to be another chilled one but you get caught off guard with these crazy ferocious breaks thrown in that gets taken off just as quickly. [Marshal. - Restless] [...]

This is the illest shit I have heard in a while. Marco Giuliani aka Last Japan has an upcoming release called Settle Down , with the title track feat Bobbie Gordon, coming out on 123 and digitally on 19th September via Four40 . Gorgeous vocals, a little bit of 8-bit and that nice warm bassline. Makes me feel all lovely inside. Listen: [Last Japan - Settle Down feat Bobbie Gordon] And the longer version: But this one here below is the killer. Blood Diamonds [...]

Amy from SPF-5000 dropped this email like last month and I only just got round to it now - that's how deep this inbox is. They've just got their debut, White Hot Fantasy out via Top Billin and they wanna spread the love round. Electro-house is something I've grown out of, but Franki Chan 's tough techno remix is really doing it for me, bringing the original to a whole new level. Listen: [SPF-5000 - White Hot Fantasy (Franki Chan Remix)] The Dances [...]

I havent written about drum and bass for a while, thought I should start with Eleven8 . Colours of Distance out via Med School Music ( Hospital Records ' sister label) back in late March was some serious, deep stuff. Soulful vocals with a mean bassline and enough athmospherics to keep things nice and dark. Listen: [Eleven8 - Colours of Distance] Or listen to the full thing on youtube: Another recently released track is Eleven82s Subterranean Wastelands on the Coexistance [...]

You should know who The Weeknd is by now. If you don't, read this post . House of Balloons exploded just 5 months ago and now he's back with another 9 track free download called Thursday . Thieves Like Us ' Drugs In My Body got referenced in the track Life of The Party which I didn't find too impressive. I don't know. I can't really get into it at the moment. I'm not getting the same intensity as the House of Balloons release. [...]

Ranvir Bassi considers his music a rebellion against fidelity, the same fidelity that he considered himself to be a slave to. Perhaps we're speaking the same language because I feel the same way. This struggle to constantly achieve, fit the mould, keep to the same cloth you were cut from, blindfold yourself and keep to your faith, regardless of its holes. There should not be any question, we must accept it. What about choice, and change, and chance? Don't they not exist or do they exist only for "the weak". I don't want to be bound to this [...]

I'm feeling abit of future garage today. It's a remix by Sines for Tyler Scully aka Specters' Hurt Me release. Sine's version is more emotional than the original, really deep. I'm really liking what he's done with the vocals. It's currently on free download now so get it. [Specters - Hurt Me (Sines Remix)] [Specters - Hurt Me (Original)] Buy Specters' Hurt Me on Beatport . [...]

An interesting email has just popped up in my inbox from Iain Foxwell. This Glaswegian goes by the producer name, Holobeams and Broken Machines . Since this week is all about the synths for me, this one is going to fit right in. Iian tells me that this stuff is influenced by bands like Boards of Canada, Washed Out, Orbital and M83. No kidding, I'm getting a super chilled out athmosphere. Beautiful synthwork, full of warmth and moisture, textured sounds, and a floaty almost magical soundscape. Flowers is my fav, it's darker and the build up is [...]

Ah fuck I love these guys. Monarchy's new single is coming out like next week. Maybe I'm Crazy is a non-stop, anthemic pop summer tune, the boys will love it, the girls will sing a long and dance to it. Plus, the single comes with some fucking remixes by fit people like Azari & III , my favorite duo Joe & Will Ask? , dreamy synthwave extraordinaire Diskjokke , another favorite Dreamtak Diamond Sounds (check out the remix for Sky Larkin . It's proper mint), and Michael Woods and Linus Love. [...]

Another new massive EP from this Parisian label, Yeah Dish recs. Moustache Machine 's ep has its own storyline: its the 80s in Miami, it involves coppers, a submarine called Pluton, and massive amount of smuggled cocained code-named Moustache Machine. A lot of heavy, warm, melting synths, space-d out basslines and incredible transistions in these tunes. Pluton is one fucking sick track. The Le Crayon remix is particularly nice, cut up funky stuff. Get in: [Moustache Machine - Miami 1986] [Moustache Machine - Pluton]-> Bad Fotography [...]

Feel like I'm going through a bit of a musical funk at the minute. My skanking tanks are pretty much rinsed out for at least another week, which includes grimey wobbles and bass. I cannot stand any of what is going on in the mainstream charts bar maybe a couple of singer songwriters hither and tether. So I find myself lost, cold, turned on and delirious beneath a swathe of unwanted music trying to crawl or pry open my ears and force their way in. During this trying time, perhaps one what I might look back on and refer to [...]

Another amazing hard hitter from french electro DJ, Aaren Reale . If you don't know who he is click on that link on his name now and GET TO KNOW, that's all I am saying. This is a new remix that is going to be out on Beatport pretty soon. Epic electro meant for loud speakers. [Hack The System - End Game (Aaren Reale Remix)] [...]

It's Monday. And you need to cheer the fuck up. This is something from last week that I've saved until the right moment to publish. Yeah you'll like this one, it's an easy winner, something to soothe that weekend comedown you still havent quite got rid off. Kitsune 's got their Summer Hits comp out and I've picked out my fav choons out of the lot. The first one has gotta be Para One 's remix of Hey Today 's Minor . [Hey Today - Minor (Para One Remix)] [...]

I finally got to see, probably, one of my favorite bands ever, like EVER last night at Brixton Academy. They go by The Music . I thought this might be an endearing way for me to start the post as they are Leeds boys and took pleasure in reminding us that we are southerners and they are not. Whatever to be honest the gig was out of this world, but in a typical way they are now splitting up and destined to remain only in the memories and ears of their fans. One other [...]

A quick post for you filthy tech house freaks, should sort yall out for Saturday night, innit. This guy practically lives right down the road from Leeds - Sheffield's Liam Mitchell aka Jagerverb has got an ep coming out via Top Billin and I am seriously digging this tune. Are you in the party mood yet? [JAGERVERB - Lady Birds] Buy Top Billin's records here . [...]

I'm just dropping this cheeky disco tune in for this Friday's post. God I love Flight Facilities . Been bangin' on about them practically since I started this blog. This new number, Foreign Language takes their signature disco sound to new heights. I don't wanna simply say its fit for summer because its more than that - its another classic you can get back to again and again. [Flight Facilities - Foreign Language feat. Jess] Buy this single on iTunes here . [...]

This is healing my soul right now. Quenching my loneliness. I don't usually post things like this and I'm not posting it because somebody said I should or that a press release was sent my way. Hell, there probably WAS a press release sent my way but I havent checked my gmail for awhile. Nick Zinner from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs , is one of my favorite guitarists of all time. He's collaborated with the guys Hisham Akira Bharoocha and Ben Vida of Soft Circle to write this brilliant composition performed by a 41-strong string ensemble. [...]

Was just looking through the new dashboard on my soundcloud when I chanced on this. Magic Panda is Tigerbeat6 's latest addition to their artist roster and he has a new ep coming out of the imprint called Days Are Numbered . Not to be confused with Gold Panda , think of Magic Panda as the melodic equivalent of Dam Mantle . Magic Panda is Jamie Robson from Norwich and he does the kind of lo-fi electronica woven together by richly textured, celestial soundscapes and a sometimes distinct house beat. I'm winding [...]

Sometimes I battle with myself. The self that you see and the self that hides inside my head. We talk sometimes, but his voice is so quiet that by the time it reaches my lips I can only sigh. Do you want to talk about it? Lets talk about it. Conflict. And fear, like the wasps that come out of nowhere when its humid like this. When it gets too stifling and it starts to sting, where do we go to heal? In faith, in the kindness of strangers, maybe. Or by the touch of a lover, the love lost [...]

I'm a bit non-plussed with this Chicken Lips remix for Cut Copy 's Blink And You'll Miss A Revolution . Some kinda acid-y house-y mashed up funk with cowbells. You can download that thing here . The Toro Y Moi out-of-this-world version though, is summin else altogether - pure heaven. [Cut Copy - Blink And You'll Miss A Revolution (Toro Y Moi Remix)] [Cut Copy - Blink And You'll Miss A Revolution (Chicken Lips Remix)] Here's another freebie from Cut Copy: [The [...]
