UKG producer Jordon Saxton aka Viers , previously featured on this blog awhile back, has a new track out and it's fucking mint. Funky 2 step-y vibes with an uplifting feel, wonky basslines makin a comeback: [Viers - Can't U See] It seems like he's been on a roll recently, with a coupla fresh new tracks nearly once every few days. This free download is an exceptional one, garage vocals chopped and looped in an old school-style bass: [Viers - Obsolete] Holla at his [...]

Not really an acid kinda person, but this new Craig Williams track has sealed itself to be this Friday night's 2am dancefloor contender. Pounding 4/4 beats meets meaty basslines. I'm liking the crazy big room reverb and unstoppable build ups: [Craig Williams - Lemur] In an almost similar vein, check out this old remix he's done for Mark Knight 's Drug Music , currently up for limited free download: [Mark Knight - Drug Music (Craig Williams Remix)]-> Bad Fotography Recommends! Here's what [...]

Yeah, that's the new School of Seven Bells line up. My first thought was, what happened to Claudia? And then I remembered she left like, last year. :( Sad times. Vagrant has just hit us up with this brand new track, The Night from the upcoming album Ghostory and their signature dreamy harmonies that I feared might have been sacrificed after Claudia's departure is still intact. Alejandra made sure of it. The Night stays faithful to the band's shoegaze style - the fullness of sound achieved [...]

I have a love / hate thing with Yacht . I don't exactly why. The first time I was introduced to this guy, I convinced myself that I didnt get it: all that overblown, self important art school fluff. He's probably single-handedly started the hispter-y triangle craze. Wasn't really a fan of The Blow either. It's all just so fucking bourgeoisie and yet, and yet, and yet - I couldnt shut the music out. It was so good. So why the fuck am I posting this? Because this new video for I Walked Alone [...]
A pre x-mas gift from Christian Strobe , quite a good one for a Sunday night. He's turned this indie / disco dance track from Holy Ghost! into a poppier uplifting "cosmic house" number - big beats and warm synths that take you round the universe and back. The video for the original track is really awesome. Released via DFA : [Holy Ghost! - Wait And See] The remix is up for limited free download: [Holy Ghost! - Wait And See (Christian Strobe Remix)] [...]

The academy has officially kicked of. After the catastrophe of the earthquakes in Japan, a new home for the academy was much needed and quickly sort out. Madrid was the final choice. And a mighty good choice at that. The academy takes a slightly different swing this year with participants ranging from Jessie Ware, and Andreya Triana to the less well known but equally destructive in their musical domination on Fiordmoss and Full Crate. I thought this might be a good opportunity to get all close and intimate with some of this year's participants. First on the [...]

Holy is a FUCKING AWESOME shouty screamy hardcore punk from Milano, Italy. Lashings, of tough old-school styles meets Level Plane records screamo vocals. Short, fast, loud - 8 furious songs recorded pretty much over the course of a few days in a hot rehearsal studio in Italy. Their self titled ep is coming out January 23rd via the Berlin / Italian label, Hell, Yes . Quite a strange choice to for a label. You will recognize Hell yes via their Dum Dum Girls and Crocodiles releases. They've got a predominantly chillwave-y / garage roster, quite the [...]
Housse de Racket 's new album, Alesia is out now in the states and you've probably already seen the video for the track Roman on the NME. New single Chateau just been given the video treatment by none other than Sanghon Kim, the fine art graphic designer who did the album's cover. Watch it - it'll be the most mesmerising 3 mins and 37 seconds of your life. [Housse De Racket - Chateau] Oh and grab this sweet free remix by Punks Jump Up - up [...]

Kevin Jonson and the Huble imprint is testament to the kind of quality techno coming out of France at the moment - my kind of techno. Minimal, elegant, sharp beats, the title track Frozen Road , especially, gets down seriously deep. A little bit dark and melancholy. Serious stuff. I know I can be quite euro-centric in this blog and tend to immediately champion anything coming out of the French or German underground but hey, you know, if it's good, its good and it deserves to be said. 4am players right here, fantastic ep, keep [...]

We kick things off this month with SoHight' s new ep released by my family in France, Yeah Dish recs. Gotta love this label for coming up with the goods time and time again Any surprises why this one made the cut on this blog? SoHight are two Russian blokes doing that synth pop thing, kinda like if you like Tesla Boy , you'll love them. Will never go out of style. And then, imagine taking that Russian flavour and getting the guys over in France to give their tracks a fancy new remix makeover. [...]

YESSSSSSS! Flatmate returns. I love these french producers. They take bass music to a completely whole new level. Check the post I wrote about them earlier on here . Really techy, sub heavy and tough bass with dark, emotive synthscapes. Seriously genre defying in the most beautiful way possible. [Hubwar & Esteban - Hour Change (FLATMATE Remix)] The original by Hubwar and Estaban is pretty sick as well: [Hubwar & Esteban - Hour Change] Hour Change is coming [...]

Seclusiasis are giving away this free track from Knight Riderz new ep, For Real . If you like your bass full glitchy and packed with lasers this is for you. Download this juke-y track here: [ Knight Riderz - Workin Up ] -> Download While that's downloading, listen to the title track For Real : [Knight Riderz - For Real] Buy on Juno here .

I knew this was going to be perfect from the moment I clicked on it. White Bamby , so the fairy tale goes, met in the Aegen sea, fell in love with the same girl, decided to make music out of the experience and found some random statue that inspired them to name themselves White Bamby. That's some pretty surreal, trippy stuff right there. I love this EP, I honestly think it is seriously going to take off. And who the fuck is Mr Gonzo ? Have I been living under a rock or something? Seems [...]

Cannot believe this guy hasnt released any albums! That's going to change though. Benoit Heitz aka Surkin 's highly anticipated debut album, USA , drops 7th November and we've just been given the preview. It is fucking sexy. 80s influenced club vibes with an unmistakable french flavour (obviously), the album was originally intended for release via the renowned french label Institubes but since Institubes is now sadly no more, the only relevant choice became the Marble Music imprint (home to Sam Tiba , Das Glow , Para One etc). [Surkin [...]

New favorite band OF THE FUCKING YEAR. The Coathangers (not to be confused with the Raincoats , although that would be quite funny) are a 4 piece all girl punk band from Atlanta and before I can even say check them out before Pitchfork turns them into disposable hipster hype, Big P got there before me. Nothing wrong with that. I'm just being bitchy. [The Coathangers - Hurricane] Awesome comment on youtube by the way: " Why are they all fucking beautiful. Fuck you. Fuck you for being so beautiful . [...]

Ever since I found Isotroph a coupla months back, I've been keeping up to date with his releases pretty closely. If you aint familiar with Isotroph's deep dubsteppy techno style, then have a read of the earlier post here . This new track just came out literally 10 minutes ago, it's a preview. It's quite unlike everything I've heard so far, which tend to be on the darker, edgier side of things. This one's more chilled, and dare I say it, "happier". [Isotroph - Colours] Excellent track, just not [...]

So the big news of the past week or so, at least in my world, is something to do with a dictator falling of a chair or something, he hurt his ankle or something…..Only joking the real news came from last Thursday night when Rbma took over the entire London Eye. Dubbed as 30 gigs in one night, we saw a different system, group, or artist take the reins in each pod and basically have a massive party in the sky. Myself? I could not make it sadly. Oh the woe. However [...]

An excellent free giveaway of the nordic singer, Karin Park' s single, Tiger Dreams remixed by Photek , is up for grabs. I bet you'll say "Oh my god she sounds like Bjork," which is fair play because she does, but not in a cheap, copy-cat way. I wont pretend to have any knowledge of Nordic singing but a friend of mine who went to Iceland quite a few times noted that a fair bit of singers sound quite like Bjork. Karin's new single, recorded with Christoffer Berg ( Fever Ray / The Knife [...]

So we featured Beni's It's A Bubble track and awesome video quite a while ago . The track was taken from the highly anticipated album House of Beni (Modular). And since the album is gonna get released in the UK digitally come November 7th, the press folks are upping the hype, (which is always a good thing) so - here's another free track, the amazing Style of Eye give us a seriously fierce house remix of Someone Just Like You featuring Mattie Safer from The Rapture . [Beni [...]

Hailing from Ohio, Freeze-Tag describes his music as "futuristic soul" inspired by retrograde tones. He also tries to do everything about music "in the spirit of jazz". Very interesting. We have some free downloads here from the man himself, so take a moment to digest Freeze-Tag's "prisma-chromatic" sounds. They are a bit on the minimal / simple side of things, not very jazzy at all but we've heard the new single "Eskimo" and that is THE ONE to wait for. Fans of Dam Mantle / Gold Panda / Stephen Farris will [...]
