Pete Tong goes to Berlin to meet the creators of Traktor ( Native Instruments ) and their best buddy Richie Hawtin. Richie talks in depth about the first time he saw a computers potential with mp3's way back in 1999 to the day himself and friends split ways over arguments about digital vs vinyl. He also talks with excitement about new NI products such as their Drum machine (Maschine) and its capabilities along with his excitement for a few upcoming shows, in particular his b2b set with Ali Dubfire at Exit and playing alongside Josh Wink who also uses [...]

Boys Noize's Twitter and Erol Alkan's Forum have confirmed that the upcoming Boys Noize album entitled 'Power' will be released late September 2009 on BNR. For all those rapidshare looters out there, the unibrowed German's album preview will have a robot voice over every minute on each track of the album which was terribly annoying for 'Oi Oi Oi' but is a clever way of protecting copyright. Speculation on the album cover has reached ridiculous heights on German forum The New French Touch but Hailfairy expects a skull of some sort. [...]

Just got this from Richie Hawtins facebook page, this is probably the most exciting news I've heard this year, as Richie is notorious for not allowing people to record his sets. The guy has changed loads, for the better obviously. He's given us an amazing twitter application that allows you to follow what tracks he's playing as he'd djing and now BBC1 have recorded one of the best 2 hour of techno that i've been at. So excited about this, roll on 18th July! " (We are excited to [...]
Wow, where do I begin? The Serb's are Mental! The Fortress where Exit has been based for the last 10 years has to be the best naturally designed venue for a festival i've ever been to. Each stage is set below in a gigantic mote that runs around the fort, and each stage has to be seen to be believed! Every morning around 5am the sun would come up and the crowd would go mental. It's an unbelievable fortress that would make scaling the walls of Helms Deep childsplay stuff!. A man actually died [...]

One half of Hailfairy is home, clean and dry after a manic few days at Oxegen. The other half is still lost in Serbia at Exit festival and has promised to post an Exit roundup home his return to Ireland. With so many highlights over the Sat and Sun at Oxegen it's hard to know where to start so here goes the chronological breakdown. For a better idea of the atmosphere, you have to read Jim Carroll's Round up on Irishtimes.com. Also have [...]

Hailfairy arrived very late to Oxegen 2009 yesterday so here's our very limited review. We only managed to fit in 2Many DJ's, Crookers, Swedish House Mafia, Deadmau5 and the compulsory few minutes of BLUR between the seas of topless 17 year olds. DeadMau52 beloved Mouse Hat didnt last long on his head in the packed and sticky Dance Arena. He played more of a techno set and did a lot of the work live including his remix of Daft Punk's Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger below: Harder, Better, [...]

Well that time of the year again is nearly upon us and we just can't wait to get back inside the Dance Arena at Oxegen. To us the Dance Arena makes Oxegen , and it amazes us when we talk to people who don't even bother venturing in! Its given us amazing memories, like in 2007 when everyone was banging out "ZZT's - Lower States of Consciousness" or when 2 Many DJ's played Depeche Mode's "Just Can't Get Enough" to Justice's Cross and Boys Noize last year. MCD have outdone themselves again this year with another amazing [...]

What an absolute delight last Thursday to get an email from Electric Picnic announcing new acts for the madness in early September. One of the most anticipated acts must be Diplo and Switches collective Major Lazer, based on a one-armed Jamaican ex-commando Gorillaz styled cartoon character. The album Guns Don't Kill People....Lazers Do is a hyperactive and ambitious attempt to fuse reggae with electro mainstream and will keep you bopping for hours at EP. Check out their addictive baby Autotune below. Pity its only a minute long: [...]
Bloc Party have just released the video for their latest single 'One More Chance' which goes on general release on August 10th. Rumours of a more electronic feel to the next album have probably surfaced from their collaborations with Phillipe Zdar of Cassius. Expect to see this track blared out from the main stage at Oxegen on July 11th. Bloc Party - One More Chance (Mediafire)
