London duo Thumpers recently debuted a new lyric video for their track, "Unkinder". Just a couple spins through this tropically laced track, and we're still coming back for more. It's synth pop boasting melody drenched vocals - that stick (firmly rooted in your memory to be revisited when you least expect it). We could not be more ready to hear what's yet to come from Thumpers. Thumpers - Unkinder (A Tougher Love) THUMPERS ( Official ) [...]

The instantaneously (& insanely) catchy "All I Fear" is part of a limited release Record Store Day 10-inch vinyl from the New York-based band. In addition to "All I Fear", the 10-incher's title track "Binary Mind" as well as three additional unreleased demos will round out the release. Look out for "Binary Mind" on Record Store Day (April 20th) and get with the band when they hit your town this spring. Ra Ra Riot ( Facebook ) Rating 8.3

Yes, Drake did take it there. So if "Girls Love Beyonce", do dudes loves Drake? We do (but don't ask to speculate any further). So did Drake do here? The owl man takes DC's "Say My Name" and in the style of 2013 slows it down, smooths it out, spooks it out (with an assist from Cocaine 802s collaborator James Fauntleroy) and scores an engaging and heartened viber that only gets realer on the third, fourth, etc listens. Drake – Girls Love Beyonce (ft. James Fauntleroy) [...]

London-via-Australia singer Josef Salvat, who's "This Life" " is one of the best tracks of 2013 thusfar, releases new track "Hustler". While not as hit you square on the forehead immediate as "This Life", the piano-driven dark pop of "Hustler" is no less powerful and affecting. Dear, Josef, we need more music ASAP; thx, B3SCI. Josef Salvat ( Facebook ) Rating 8.3

Well, yes, that is more like it. Fantasia Barrino delivers one of the strongest track of her career with the supremely well produced/arranged new smanger "Supernatural Love". The hook especially is off the meter as F.B. rattles off in rapid succession her various identities (woman, wife, mother) & maybe comeback story? Side Effects of You is due Apr. 23. Fantasia ( Official ) Rating 8.4

Get familiar with the beautiful new late night house track from Swedish artist HNNY. We keep expecting that Brandy "Boy Is Mine" vocal to snake it's way into the mix; but our Swedish friend uses "Boy" as an exercise in restraining away from an overexposed trend (looped 902s R&B vocals). The result is a tastefully satisfying (& fresh) new 3 A.M. house experience. HNNY ( Soundcloud ) Rating 8.7

The French dance legends hook up with two equally legendary producers Pharrell & Nile Rodgers for the cinematic disco of "Get Lucky". Fitted with references modern and classic, the track ably transcends any tired disco (nu or otherwise) forms and succeeds as much as it innovates. Expect to hear "Get Lucky" on heavy repeat well into the summer. Daft Punk ( Facebook ) Rating 8.4

Doin it right, again, Koreless this time flip "Late Night" from Foals. Dreamy and aquatic, this arrangement is sure to freequent new playlists. Check it out below. Koreless : ( Soundcloud ) ( Myspace ) ( Facebook ) Foals ( Official ) Rating: 8.5

Poliça’s debut Give You The Ghost scored highly in the lists last year ( check it out ) so it’s pleasing to see that they’re back so soon with a new single, featuring fellow Gayngs member Justin Vernon (Bon Iver). “Tiff” hasn’t lost any of Polica’s intriguing spacey synth-scapes, and Justin Vernon’s soothing vocals meld effortlessly with Channy Leaneagh’s to form a somewhat pleasant gloopyness – and if space-gloop doesn’t quite sound like a good thing on paper? That’s understanding, but have a good listen anyway... By Nathan Hetherington [...]

Indulge in new band smell. Resident writers Brian Litwin and Erin Feathers recently caught up with hotly tipped Oxford, UK act Pixel Fix. PF: All of us had been in bands or had been involved in other musical activities in the past, so that’s how we all [...]

Well there are some perks for sitting out Coachella. XL Records backed, Jai Paul has released a 16 track album. His second single "Jasmine," initially set the internet ablaze with a smooth voice and unique sound. All the information available to know on Jai Paul, besides what was stated earlier, is that "... is a British songwriter and record producer from Rayners Lane, United Kingdom." A highlight from the album is "Track 2." The heavy use of Indian drums and sounds is up front, and the choppy chord progression is slowing turning into Jai Paul's MO. This may turn out [...]

Imagine glitter to your ears. Aleos is a gem, passed on by word of mouth. At first listen, one can see a Baths quality, but at second listen (and there will be a second listen) there is something undoubtedly unique. The weather is warming and here is a great opportunity to get in the mood. Put the top down and turn this up. By Phoebe Severin Aleos - FRuits Aleos - Things You See [...]

VW's second pre-release offering is slow, soft, and sweet. It's probably the prettiest song we've heard from these guys. Their full-length Modern Vampires of the City will be upon us May 14. From what the band has said, we can expect this album from Vampire Weekend to be darker. Judging from some re-arrangements of older songs featured during the band's set during SXSW, the album might be slower as well. By Bruce Rave Vampire Weekend - Step Vampire Weekend [...]

Besides a mutual appreciation for the 216 (which always helps), "Reverse" from newcomers SomeKindaWonderful has seeped into our skin. A pop track at it's core, lush and melodic orchestration help lend the soulful timbre to a next-level raspy-croon from frontman Jordy Towers. Add some promiscuity induced lyrics for dramatic effect and you've got a press-repeat worthy jam. Sample "Reverse" below. SomeKindaWonderful ( Soundcloud ) Rating 8.3
"Voyeur"'s great. Normally we wouldn't take it to the paticular place of a post about a remix on such a great track. But this is Bear/Face, who is arguably, at or near the top of the dreamy R&B sizzurp vocal genre right now (which is something). Listen to what Mr. Face did to James Blake below. Bear/Face ( Soundcloud ) Rating 8.2

Girl this is our sorry for 2009. Finnish duo Shine 2009 pull from a disparate yet unique and engaging pool of influences for new synth pop/opera-sample track "Eurozone". Thanks Best Fit . Shine 2009 ( Facebook ) Rating 8.5
