I've never been completely sold on Surfers Blood but these two latest tracks being previewed from their new LP Pythons have be definitely reconsidering. "Slow Six" was released this weekend. It's the b-side to their RSD release featuring the equally engaging "Demon Dance" . Stream both below.

CocoRosie: After the Afterlife on Nowness.com . Here's CocoRosie's new video for "After The Afterlife" featuring panoramic shots of the wilderness coupled with unsettling cut shots of people running around in animal costumes. It's still not quite as good as their best but it's definitely getting there.
I'm completely blown away by this new Stinky Smelly LP. I was let on from this CTD post after the early era Modest Mouse comparison (obviously) caught my attention. I don't know that Isaac Brock himself could pull off a better, more refreshing redux on the timeless soundscapes of The Lonesome Crowded West or This Is A Long Drive... but these two kids out of Philly have managed to somehow encapsulate it into an endlessly rewarding 16 track LP that I won't soon forget. Modest Mouse played Coachella this past week, marking the final US date before they embark on a slew of overseas dates spanning most of the summer. I'm really hoping the activity means they've got something recorded. It's been six long years since we got a proper full-length. Check out the band's Coachella performance of a new song entitled "Be Brave" to hold ya over.
Overseas is a new band featuring David Bazan, Will Johnson, Matt and Bubba Kadane. They've announced their self-titled debut which is slated for release on June 11th. I'll take any excuse to listen to new Bazan material so this comes as a welcome opportunity. Soooo, this happened. In Daryl Palumbo's infinite quest to erratically frustrate his followers as much as possible, he's put out this electronic solo jam which sounds like the bastard child of Yeasayer and the Crazy Frog song. Last time Palumbo checked in was last year with his 802s pop project Color Film , so where he goes from here is anyone's guess.
