Katie Crutchfield aka Waxahatchee looks to continue her notable rise after an awesome 2012 with her lo-fi acoustic heartbreaker American Weekend . News broke today that Waxahatchee's new album Cerulean Salt will be out 3/5 and we've got a new song to boot. RDGLDGRN are a three-piece hip-hop group fresh outta D.C. following the hip-hop/rock infused territory mapped out by former genre-benders Gym Class Heroes (think back to their earlier and more genuine work). They've got an EP comin out on 2/13 and a helluva single to hype it up. If your not sold yet, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl dug these guys so much that he played drums on their whole album. Bosnian Rainbows are the new outfit led by Mars Volta’s Omar Rodriguez-Lopez. Lopez teamed up with Teri Gender-Bender of Les Butcherettes to round out the new group's lineup who released their first single "Torn Maps" today via NME "Torn Maps" is an youthful toe tapping dance rock anthem reminiscent of Yeah Yeah Yeah's more recent commercial leanings. It's taken off of their new untitled full-length which should be out later this year.
There's been plenty of talk around the scene regarding Shone . The band surfaced about a month ago amidst a well executed viral campaign . Now that some dust has settled we know a few things. The band apparently consists of Brand New drummer Brian Lane and Robbers Andrew Accardi (Vin Accardi from Brand New's brother). They've released two tracks thus far, led by a positively explosive and unrestrained vocal lead from Accardi, showcased best in their newest song "Baby Shakes" . Their reception [...]
Case Closed are a pop-rock outfit out of Jersey that I just got introduced to who's new single "Junior Year" caught my ears. They've got a distinct similarity to Envy On The Coast vocally while pulling from The Early November's latest musically. Check it out and keep your ears out for their new Basements EP which is due out this spring.
Earlier this month Devendra Banhart dropped the first single from his forthcoming new album Mala . Today he's streaming another one, stream the glowing vintage-Banhart tune in "Never Seen Such Good Things" Mala is out March 12th via Nonesuch.
As far as I'm concerned Manchester Orchestra are front in center when it comes to records I'm anticipating this year. From a recent tweet made on their official twitter, it appears the band will be releasing something new w/ Thrice and O'brother . Details are sparse at the moment, but I'll update with any more developments.
News broke last summer that The Strokes we're in studio working on LP5 and while the band initially denied that report , it appears that it may have been true after all. Seattle based radio station 107.7 The End recently confirmed that they've heard the band's new single "All The Time" which is apparently "packing a classic Strokes sound". They also say that we'll be hearing new material from the gods of rock sooner rather than later, with the new full-length out sometime this year. [...]
I've given up all hope on ever getting a new Little Joy album. In the meantime I'll take joy in hearing the lovely Binki Shapiro teaming up with Adam Green in their first full-length as a duo. It's out next week on 1/29, but the full thing can be streamed now:

It's official folks, according to Billboard , The Postal Service will be reuniting for Coachella and some other festival dates this year. Sub-pop has also confirmed that a deluxe version of the groups iconic album Give Up will be out to celebrate it's 10 year anniversary. Though this marks the activity from the duo in quite sometime, Ben Gibbard has been adamant that the band will not be recording new material.
Balance & Composure and Braid will be releasing their 73 split on February 26th . Amazon has some 30 second clips previewing the new material which can be found Here . I know it's only 30 seconds, but "Say" sounds gorgeous.

Louder Than Bombs announced their new album What Resonates late last year, but up until now we've yet to receive and concrete details on it. The band recently signed on with South Division Records to release the new record, which will see light this April. For now, they're streaming the new track "No News Is Good News" below.
Now, Now picked the slow opener for last year's Threads as the next song to give the video treatment to. Led with a slew of drunken and out of focus visuals, the video eventually emerges from it's blurred slumber before abruptly coming to a halt.
Foxing are another year end gem I fell in love with after stumbling onto their Old Songs EP a bit ago. It's just 3 songs long, but all the tracks exceed 5 minutes and do a good job of showcasing that midwest twinkly emo-revival that seems to be going crazy as of late. Yeah Yeah Yeah's have been away for a relatively long time since they released It's Blitz! clear back in 2009. Yesterday they broke silence by announcing they'll be back with Mosquito .
