![[Mixtape] Relajado](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3692673_lg.jpg)
I don't know why, but I just decided to make a mix today. Maybe it's because I've been totally underutilizing my paid soundcloud account. I made it in about an hour, and it has no flow whatsoever, but I like all the songs and that makes it a good mix for me. I listened to it once and didn't change anything (you can tell because i didnt even take the time to cut down the 5 minute robot track in the middle), so it's a true first draft, and I think a rather enjoyable one (but admittedly rather roughread [...]

How good is this song? I always forget about it, and then remember it one day and listen to it a bunch of times. It's kind of crazy that this song came out in 1988, 23 years ago. I feel like it's aged very well. And I always forget that part where she's like "The guy's a gigolo, man!"

Let's switch gears and go back to the land of the ultra lo-fi with Honeydrum , the group that keeps on knocking out cassettes month after month. Here are a few legit tunes from their latest release Pleasures of the Sun , released on July 15. For all I know, there's probably an even newer release out there already, and if there isn't, expect one soon. Honeydrum - Skin City

I just like everything about this song. There's electronics, samples of all kinds of instruments (horns, harps, keys of all sorts, you name it), and some indecipherable vocals that almost act as another instrument. It's from M+A , the Italian duo of Michele Ducci, 19, and Alessandro Degli Angioli, 22. This one has got a little bit of everything. I'm extremely intrigued by this sound and am now anticipating the November release of their album things.yes . M+A - Liko Lene Lisa
Now, back to the glitch. We've posted tunes from Charlie Yin's Giraffage before, but he's just sent us this brand new track "Moments" which will appear on his debut LP Comforts which is set to be released at a yet to be determined date in Fall 2011. This track makes me want to hear it all yesterday. Giraffage - Moments

This track from The Shakes is unlike most of the other stuff I post, mostly because it's just full of straight up soul and nothing electronic or glitchy. But variety is the spice of life, right? I'm not sure who the singer of this Alabama outfit is, but she's about as legit as they come. If there is any doubt about that, the 2:30 mark pretty much seals that deal. Even though I'm obsessed with all things ambient and weird and electronic, it's really refreshing when something like this crosses my ears as well. [...]

Purity Ring has also weaseled their way into our hearts with some good old fashioned awesome tunes. They're releasing a split 73 with Braids which will be available while both groups are on tour in October and this is their contribution. I'm seeing them both within a week, so I might just buy the 73 twice. Belispeak by PURITY RING

Com Truise has been making music that is right up my alley for a while now with his modern take on some classic sounds and shortly after the release of his debut full length Galactic Melt , he's offered up an older unreleased track "Datebar", which includes some pretty interesting samples, all for free. So give it a listen, because it's pretty neat just like all his other tunes, and catch him on tour right now. This one just keeps getting better as it carries on. Com Truise - Datebar

Today is the 10th anniversary of the passing of the beautiful and talented Aaliyah. As a mere 18 year old when it happened, and still to this day, I can't remember a celebrity death that I was more upset about. She's also a Detroit homegirl, so there's that extra bit of connection there. In honor and remembrance, here's a smooth remix of one of her biggest hits, "Rock Da Boat", by S hash'U with beats by Dam-Funk. I think she would approve. DAM-FUNK & SHASH'U - [...]

Holy summer funky fresh flavor. Check out these two tunes from Rogue Vogue who, as they mention on their soundcloud page, pay tribute to the late 80s/early 90s Chicago club scene, and a fine job they are doing at that. They will most likely take you to some sort of beach front lounge where things are just getting ready to pop off. This right here is some straight up summer of 2010 dailybeatz music right here. Our friends Labyrinth Ear have just released a new track called "Amber" from their upcoming TBA EP. It's pretty legit and it's got all of the mysterious electronic feeling to it that we've liked so much about them in the past. You can stream it below or check out their Facebook page for a free download and check out their Oak EP if you haven't already. Labyrinth Ear - Amber by Labyrinth Ear

Doing some inbox management today (and enjoying the fact that I no longer have to do this daily) and I thought this song sounded nice. I know nothing of Our Brother The Native or Ambassadeurs , but I like when they come together in this interesting/glitchy way. Our Brother The Native - Rhythm Hymns (Ambassadeurs Remix) by Ambassadeurs

I love Glasser, and I love Delorean. This remix is so distincly Delorean that it hurts, complete with big buildup into big beat drop. It brings me back to my fond memories in Barcelona last month, where I was fortunate enough to see the band live on their home turf along with about a hundred of my closest Spanish hipster friends. Glasser - Treasury Of We (Delorean Remix) [ via ]

The other night, I was DJing in the Covers Only room on turntable.fm and someone posted this beauty of a cover from back in the day. Pretty sure it's all a capella, which I'm sure my little sister will be excited about, but in any event, it's a great quasi-barbershop quartet take on this normally upbeat Pixies tune. Pretty excited to see TV on the Radio next week, finally, after several failed attempts. TV on the Radio - Mr. Grieves (Pixies cover)

I had already planned on posting the original version of this song by Lips, but then I heard this remix via someone sending me this remix and I decided that I would post this instead. It goes to all those places that I like songs to go. Good job, Lips and Christian Strobe . Lips - Everything To Me (Christian Strobe Remix)

My first taste of Tyson was thanks to my homegirl Hannah Rad (the blogger turned DJ behind Sheena Beaston ) when she contributed the mega rad "Out Of My Mind" to this year's edition of our Blogwave Summer Mixtape . Check out this newerish track from him now, where he carries on those 80swavevibes in a big way. And big ups to our friends at The Culture Of Me , where we copped this track. Tyson - Fight by PurplePR [...]
Just got sent this track from Pregnant aka Daniel Trudeau. It's this weird combination of a glitchy sample set against a quasi-western sounding melody that just kinda works. Interested to see what the rest of this album has in store. Pregnant - Letter To A Friend
