There has been an outstanding amount of support behind Cashmere Cat 's Mirror Maru EP, and the Ed Banger Records crew have picked up on this by having him remix the latest by Feadz & Kito . The official remix will be out on Monday, and you can check out the one minute teaser via Ed Banger 's soundcloud .
Featurette is another leap for Letherette , who have shed their loop-heavy beat exteriors in favor of uptempo house rhythms and traditional song structures. I've been following Ambassadeurs ever since the release of M.O.P.E. almost a year and a half ago. He's been slowing unveiling new tracks like Duke Red , now culminating in the debut release from his fledgling label Lost Tribe . His solo work is elegantly constructed and incredibly intricate, so I'm eager to see what other sorts of stuff he'll be putting out. The debut 123 is due out November 26th, so stay tuned to their page to find out how to order it.
All I know about Illstrtd is that he's from Melbourne, and that he (thankfully) sent us his fantastic track Violet Sunset . It is instantly engaging and energetic, while still leaving room for slow thoughtful moments. He's got a handful of gems up on his soundcloud so be sure to snag those before it's too late.
I am still convinced that Captain Murphy is a multimedia project led by Flying Lotus . Through this lens, Du∆lity comments on his cult-like status among a new beat generation, and the exceptional thirty minute video that accompanies it goes beyond anything I've seen from his contemporaries. I am usually all about dark experimental sounds this time of year, but after returning from a weekend in the woods of Vermont (talk about dark and cold), I'm yearning for a glimmer of pop. Luckily Lindstrøm has stepped in with a vocal edit of "Vōs-Sākō-Rv", from his recent album Smalhans . For some reason unknown, I have not yet publicly proclaimed my love for Angel Haze . In a world where being a female rapper can be a hyper-sexualized gimmick, she is one of the few that seems really real. Not to mention that she is incredibly talented, spitting her flows unbelievably fast, cutting people down with every word. The Wild Knights recent release, their Presence EP , definitely doesn't put itself into a box. They genre-hop from track to track, and while I usually love me a cohesive album, I'm letting it slide because they pull it off so well. From delicate instrumental work, to near-classic house, to club-ready bass music this EP will certainly take you on a journey. Check out a few of my favorite tracks below.
YUS may not be considered pop by most definitions, but his work definitely shows sign of influence, and it's that aspect that has this track on repeat for me. "Nowadays" starts out with addictive pseudo-pop vocals then eventually the beat kicks in and the aural atmosphere expands to reveal a lushly layered electronic track. He's amazingly giving this out $1 through his bandcamp , so don't sleep.
"Relax Dude" is the first we're hearing from Snacs , a New York-based producer who reached out with a soundcloud that's filled with great work. "Relax" opens with a gurgle of soft water and ambient textures, eventually unfolding with a semi-intelligible r&b melodies need to be thrown on repeat.
