In terms of digital reproductions, there really isn't much of Roloff Beny's work online. So when I came across this Wine & Bowties post with gorgeous scans of Roloff Beny's work in India from 1969, you bet I was totally stoked! (note: There are more images on their blog, so follow the link posted above) From the write-up: "...Beny was a world traveler, and India is one of a number of his works which could effectively be described as a love letter to the place it documents. One of the most impressive [...]

Adam Fuchs and Flying Lotus team for a psychedelic video to promote Moog's Sub Phatty . Moog claims that this is their "grittiest Moog synth ever", they definitely found the right man for the job, this "Such a Square" track refreshes FlyLo sound. Sundance is going on right now, so I thought this might be a good time to post the trailer to Shane Carruth 's new film "Upstream Color" . If you're at Sundance and have the opportunity to attend the world premiere tomorrow, here's the details , and I'm very envious of you. Carruth is the writer, director and actor from a film called Primer. Of my all time favorite films, Primer rests comftorably in the top five. If you haven't seen it, I'd suggest going here and downloading it, trust me [...]

Say hello to Afterglow , one of my favorite apps for editing photos on iPhone. There are many photo editing apps out there - believe me, i've tried most of them - but this one stands out for a few reasons: Usable. Flexible. Designed well. From a design perspective, this app strikes the perfect balance between usability and flexibility. At first blush, it's easy and obvious to use, with lots of "single-tap" filters, yet maintains a high level of flexibility for the more discerning eye, allowing you to combine filters and settings while [...]

More good news from Nosaj Thing's album comes to the surface, this time it features Toro Y Moi as a guest vocalist. Somehow Nosaj can work in any style vocal and make it mesh soo well with his sound. No info on Imaginary Records , it only has 15 fans on Soundcloud and even less information online. These melodies are just nostalgic, some premature percussion but everything sits well, perfect 4/4 for around the house. Mark E went nuts on his Soundcloud an hour ago, uploading [...]

Youth Lagoon just announced dates with The National , i've been anticipating what his next sound would be like most people, maybe he'd be influenced by the Fat Possum catalog? nope, he comes back to us with sheer beauty. I missed this gem last year from Bullion , wow... what a gorgeous new direction, he keeps showing us he's song writing talent, its fusion of sound that could live in almost every decade since the 702s. Yalls just posted 6 remixes on his Soundcloud including this fluttery early [...]

Vitsoe has just released a great video depicting an apartment in Munich lived in by two Vitsoe veterans who have been living with the shelving system since the 60s. Dieter Rams and general design aficionados will appreciate the various items presented on the shelves. I don't want to say this was the golden years for this style of music but it kind of was, there was this honesty to it, producers weren't doing it to share it or to become famous, there was an orb of innocence to it. Note the freedom of not being given some sort of build but instead you get pauses with detailed ambience, soo pleasant. ISAORA is one of those clothing brands that define the highest level of outerwear for men, its pieces like these that you save up for a keep for years. Shigeto and I did the exclusive track for the video, the footage was directed by Paul Jung. If you get a chance to look deeper in their catalog I recommended everyone to look at their Reflective Coat , I saw it in person and was blown away by the quality and detailing on the inside. Photo by Mathijs Delva Getting really excited for The Holydrug Couple , if you want to dig past Tame Impala and breathe in a dustier take on psychedelia this is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Coyote Clean Up has an almost messy way of sequencing, feels like new parts come at you from behind and from the side, the magic lies on how everything lives together in the second half of the songs, stripped of trends in the future CCU will always [...]

A small collection of the imperfect, found via Flickr . The result of a improperly loaded or expired film, and loose film backs creating streaks - a common danger with older Hasselblads. The fantastical black-and-white nudes of Asger Carlsen 's Hester series are nothing if not provocative. The NY-based artist works in limbs and lumps, torsos and bulges, constructing figures that are human and yet not quite , and "shooting" them in gritty greytones. The resulting images are alternately grotesque, graceful, and thought-provoking. If you can suppress your gag reflex long enough, Carlsen's deformed forms possess a strange beauty, and an unblinking skepticism about photography's capacity for realism. Over the past few years the creativity and atheistic of the ski movie has reached exciting new levels. Whether you're remised about it or not, the days of the Warren Miller lifestyle film are quickly fading, if not already gone. Studios like Sweetgrass Productions , Sherpas Cinema , Teton Gravity Research , and Solomon Freeski TV - among others - have redefined the genre with next level editing, production and storytelling. Presented here is the teaser for Valhalla , a Sweetgrass Productions film set to be released in Fall of this [...]
