DJ Magazine is trying its luck at the whole rankings thing yet again, and is asking viewers to vote for their favorite place in the world to party for the fifth consecutive year. Space Ibiza took the top spot in 2011, knocking the previous title-holder, Amnesia, down to the fourth spot. With the use of nitrogen blasts, confetti cannons, lasers, and the newest technologies, the best clubs to party at have more than just big name DJs. Clubs are constantly changing, evolving, and trying to bring the fans the best experience possible to keep them coming back. Voting [...]
Last night Arty delivered a fabulous Essential Mix that is a must have for everyone. Not only does he play his most notable tracks such as " Around The World " and " Mozart ," he also previews his remix of "Walking Alone." This mix is full of mashups and perfect transitions that will appeal to even the harshest critics of trance and progressive house. To add to the excitement, Arty announces that he will be collaborating with Axwell and Knife Party on a few upcoming tracks. Essential Mixes have the ability to take a producer to the 'next level' [...]
UK based DJ/producer Michael Woods creates an impressive progressive tune called "Airborne." He has quietly put together a string of impressive months that first starting with his essential mix and was followed by the releases of " Full Access " and " Shinjuku ." His newest production is laden with kicking synths and a heavy bassline. The piano riffs that are used in "Airborne" are similar to the one's in Pryda's " Melo ." As long as Michael Woods' keeps bringing the heat, he will always have DA 's support. Via: Facebook (Michael Woods) [...]
Martin Solveig's set was one of the many amusing acts that Dancing Astronaut got to witness at Pacha NYC's 6th year anniversary bash . Solveig's productions are distinct from most EDM tracks, and sitting down with the mature — yet extremely young-hearted — Frenchman confirmed that he is is very much an artist of his own. Before he began spinning, Solveig showcased his humble and commendable attitude by taking the mic and praising his fellow DJ Hardwell for delivering a praiseworthy set, not to mention shouting out Skrillex's " First Of The Year " as his top track of 2011. [...]
Sidney, is that you? If you were expecting the dirty Dutch electro we've come to love from Sidney Samson, you're probably disappointed. This time Sidney teams up with fellow Dutchman and Spinnin' Records labelmate Tony Cha Cha to bring us a big synth-filled progressive house tune. "Something in the Air" features a distinctly different sound than Sidney's other recently released tracks , so while we miss the bleeps, this tune is quite refreshing. Stay tuned for the release on March 5th. Via : Facebook (Sidney Samson)
Why isn't Deniz headlining festivals yet? We find this extremely weird . Not only did this man have two of the biggest tracks of 2011 (" Dangerous " and "Tung"), he is responsible for many other tunes that will be played throughout 2012. Deniz now takes on the daunting task of creating a remix that is worthy of Fedde's " So Much Love " (incase you don't remember this sat atop the Beatport charts forever ). It's no surprise that Koyu absolutely nails it - we've come to expect it from this Dutch-bred DJ. We can't wait for [...]
Max Vangeli is back with his monthly podcast, and this massive one hour mix features a 30 minute set from Michael Woods. Starting off with his personal bootleg of Chicane vs Afrojack - "Dont Give Up" vs "Replica", Vangeli shows off his mixing skills with bootlegs and remixes dominating his half of the podcast. Michael Woods sticks to a more basic track list yet still keeps the flow of the mix. To keep up to date with Max Vangeli make sure to subscribe to his monthly podcast. Tracklist: Max Vangeli: Chicane [...]
This track makes the ironic hipster kid inside of me squeal with glee. Miike Snow and Jacques Lu Cont are a match made in indie dance heaven and this remix of the latest Miike Snow track, "Paddling Out" is exquisite. Like most Jacques Lu Cont productions every note floats in perfect harmony with the next, it is electronic music at it's best. It may not make you want to rage, but kick back, throw on your Sennheisers and appreciate it's perfection - we told you Jacques was back . Via: [...]
David Guetta played this very not safe for work remix of "2123 by Azealia Banks at his Roseland Ballroom show last night. Dance music's resident hippie, Tommie Sunshine, and the Disco Fries collaborated to take the original version of "2123 and turn it into a dance floor ready banger. By electrifying the original bass line and sprinkling in some dutch percussion, they successfully took Banks' rap swag and meshed it with house rhythms. Sunshine is giving away the edit for free so there's no excuse not to add this one to your library. [...]
Last month we introduced you to Axis , our flagship radio program that showcases a handful of the biggest tracks featured on DA. The first show definitely received a lot of positive feedback, and we're confident that you are going to like this episode even more. With tracks from Afrojack, Hardwell, and Tommy Trash — just to name a few — this episode brings an energy that will get you dancing no matter where you are. So, grab your headphones, count down the minutes to the weekend, and brace yourself for another amazing episode of Dancing Astronaut's [...]
Newcomers, Qulinez (Alexander Lager and Johannes Gustafsson) represent the new breed of talent that is being fostered by the Size Matters imprint. Their debut release "Troll" is borderline bi-polar. Like a crazy ex-girlfriend, it may seem sweet at first, but sooner or later the shit hits the fan. It's high-pitched, melodic synths lead into a snare-laced build and an incredibly rewarding drop that, as one of our readers so eloquently put it, made him "almost shit his pants." Expect to hear this track at every party you attend in Miami, it's an absolute monster (pun intended.) Qulinez - [...]
Last we heard from Hysteria Records they were teasing the Bingo Player's new release, " L'Amour ," and now they're at it again with "Bazinga." The record label only recently acquired Kenneth G but this Amsterdam native is already bringing the heat. "Bazinga," with its acid synths and massive dutch-inspired drop, is a gem amidst rhinestones. We implore you to play this track at full volume! If you can't wait until March 5th check out "Tjoppings" or "Konichiwa Bitches," his collaboration with Nicky Romero. After being featured on BBC Radio 1 just weeks ago, Australian producer John Walden has been back in the studio hammering out beats. Taking a trip through memory lane, Walden chose the timeless Mario theme song to put his electro spin on. The princess would be happy with the heavy bassline and synths that ride the line between electro and dubstep. Using a sample of "It'sa me Mario" before the bass drops evokes the days of collecting 120 stars on Nintendo 64. The song is available as a free download from Walden's soundcloud below. [...]
It can't be easy to run an imprint - particularly when your parent label is arguably the finest outfit in trance music. For Anjunadeep, however, the whole music industry thing seems to come remarkably easily. Anjunabeats' little sister continues to excite with its latest offering, Anjunadeep 04 - scheduled to drop on February 27. The package consists of two separate mixes: one by Australian veteran Jaytech, the other by James Grant (the imprint's A&R supremo and brother of Above & Beyond's Jono). But why, you might ask, should you care? You should care if you're [...]
Laidback Luke is prepping to release his single, "Speak Up," which features the typically-coquettish vocals of Wynter Gordon. The tune has been floating around the blogosphere for some time now but it will finally be released on Beatport March 12th. Alongside the original, remixes from Chris Lake, Mark Knight, Oliver Twizt, Moska, and Das Kapital will be released. Never one too shy away from harder sounds, LBL incorporates thumping bass lines, aggressive build ups, and heavy drops that make the brain rattle. We can't wait to hear what the other producers have done with this track. [...]
Mat Zo's Bipolar Mix by Anjunabeats on Mixcloud Let's just get this out of the way now - Mat Zo is disgustingly good - almost to the point that it is unfair. This mix is a little more than an hour long of pure glory from start to finish. You'll find a few of Mat Zo's releases peppered with a little Pryda and topped off with the perfect amount of Arty. Mat Zo's " Bipolar EP " is set to release [...]
Tristan Garner gives us a little taste of what he has been working on since his release of " Raven ." "Punx" is a tribute to Daft Punk, who Tristan idolized due to their prominence in the EDM scene. Throughout the entirety of the tune you can hear the robotic sounds that made tunes such as "Aerodynamic" and "Technologic" such huge successes. Both Tristan Garner and Gregori Klosman have been developing their individual careers and have risen through the ranks of EDM because of it. With their elevated status and talents, what would happen if they collaborated on something brand [...]
Featured on the Toolroom Knights compilation released on Toolroom Records, "Heroes" is the type of smooth, progressive house we've come to expect from John Dahlback. Pick it up on Beatport today. John Dahlback - Heroes (Original Mix) Purchase: Beatport
Although the fate of Masquerade Motel remains uncertain , fans will still be able to get their Swedish House Mafia fix during Miami Music Week. According to Axwell's Facebook page more details will be announced soon, including special early bird tickets, line up information, and a chance to DJ at the event. Tiesto has been on a roll lately, launching a clothing line and a radio station , announcing a residency in Las Vegas , and producing a multi-part online video series seems like a lot for a producer. Well, now we can add "release an iPhone app" to that list, as a new offering has just gone live in Apple's App Store. The app will stream episodes of Tiesto's Club Life podcast and unlock special functionality on his "In The Booth" website. The app also includes an hour of streaming video from Tiesto's [...]
