This is a sad day for all White Stripes fans, as the band has decided to break up after 13 years of making amazing music. The above image is a letter to the fans when you go visit their band website. "The White Stripes do not belong to Meg and Jack anymore. The White Stripes belong to you now and you can do with it whatever you want. The beauty of art and music is that it can last forever if people want it to. Thank you for sharing this experience. Last week Micachu and the Shapes announced their sophomore release 'Chopped and Screwed' will be out on March 28th, describing the sound as 'classical crunk'. For " Everything" , they seem to have been inspired by the elements of classical instruments and the opposing - crunk. They collaborated with London Sinfonietta , one of London's best orchestras to create the track. Check out the free download after the jump:
Metronomy makes a never ending video (seems like it) for their new single "She Wants". We haven't heard anything new from them in years and this is definitely not disappointing, so I'm glad. Their 3rd album (4th including their re-release) The English Riviera has no specific release date yet. Apparently if you scan the barcode at 2:51 it leads you tot their band website and you can download the song for free, but I don't get how you would scan it. Help?

Alexander Ebert from Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros' (the main guy) is working on a solo project under just his first name, no word if it's just a side project or dropping out of the band. One of my favorite songs from him is " Truth" , which melody reminds me of a mellow "Paper Planes" by M.I.A. (Am I the only one to hear this?) His self titled album will be released very soon, on March 1st. Alexander - "Truth" by vinylandvodka

Munchi is some 21 year old kid from Rotterdam, Netherlands who is making a lot of buzz in the blogosphere. He remixed some lines from M.I.A.'s Vickileeks mixtape from an amateur software and caught the attention of M.I.A. herself. "Murder Sound VIP" is an M.I.A. approved track that could be able to fit in the tracklisting of Maya. Munchi ft M.I.A. - Murder Sound VIP by T&ARecords

The Kills are back with their fourth studio album after 3 years of not releasing anything - enough time to reboot, write, and create more music. Their new single " Satellite" is taken from the April release 'Blood Pressure' on Domino Records, and features a grittier, grungier The Kills that you've known before. What's funny is that I didn't know Alison from The Kills was also the vocalist of The Dead Weather, because I thought this song sounded like a Dead Weather song. "We Have Everything" is a mesmerizing, dreamy pop song taken from Young Galaxy's 3rd studio album Shapeshifting to be released next month. The beginning of the song is super hypnotic, and it just gets better from there. I'm loving everything that the Canadian band is putting out lately, they seem to be really underrated. The first thing I do every morning when I wake up is check my email, and an email with this song made me jump out of bed this morning. I think you can tell I'm a big fan of Patrick Wolf , and the Richard X Remix of "The City" (which I posted just 2 days ago) is a fun, dance version of the already joyful track. "Haile Selassie" the second single and a track off of Bright Eyes' 10th studio album 'The People's Key". You can hear the tiny hint of electronic influence that they're trying to go towards in this album without forcing it in your ears. They're releasing it for free which you can download below or at Spinner . Bright Eyes - Haile Selassie by Pretty Much Amazing [ via ]
Lykke Li plays the chaser in the video for "I Follow Rivers" , which is directed by Tarik Saleh. After this I realized that I'd love to watch Lykke in a movie, as this beautifully cinematographic-ally (?) shot, and she looks stunning in her heels while chasing her lover.

Patrick Wolf dives into a happier mood for "The City" , a single from Lupercalia, his 5th studio album to be released in May. It turns out "Time of My Life" was just a teaser single as this one is the official. Listening to this, I can understand why "Time of My Life" was just a teaser, because this is a bit more fast paced and suited for a bigger audience. I can totally see the Glee cast covering this song (not a bad thing). Throughout the song Mr. Wolf repeats the line "Won't let the [...]
New Yorkers Creep have released the music video to "Days ", their debuting single featuring vocals with Romy from The xx . The beautiful video perfectly depicts their band name: creepy, glittery, and all sorts of strange.

Martina from Dragonette for Vinyl and Vodka Why Are We Whispering is the new side and collaboration project consisting of Don Diablo and rapper Ish . Their first release is their remix of Martin Solveig and Dragonette's poppy tune "Hello". I agree with what Confusion said about ditching genres because this is basically a mashup of electro, rap, and pop. This remix gives the song a fresh vibe, as I was getting so sick of radio stations playing it. [...]

Peter Bjorn & John have released yet another slamming tune off of 'Gimme Some', titled "Second Chance" . It may not be as upbeat and quick as "Breaker Breaker", but the gritty, garage rock quality is still present. The guitar riffs after the 2 minute mark has a heavy rock/metal quality, and I've never heard a cowbell sound so good before. Stream and download the song at Stereogum .

Diplo remixes Sleigh Bells' "Tell 'Em ", and the arrangement and result is fantastic. It's hyper, it's fast, and it's angry. Notice the Soulja Boy "Pretty Boy Swag" reference he sneakily incorporated into the song. Sleigh Bells - "Tell 'Em" (Diplo Remix) by vinylandvodka
Lykke Li - Untitled from Lykke Li on Vimeo . Everything Lykke Li does is so wonderfully magical, even if it is a 3 minute video of her stabbing sand with knives while wearing platforms. The video is untitled, and there really is no point in it other than make us awe at her charming beauty.

This has been going on repeat for the past 2 hours. Lady Gaga knows that her fans can never be patient enough for her February 13th release of "Born This Way", so she remixed a couple of lines from a track called "Scheiße", a German word that means "shit". It was played during the Mugler show yesterday during Mens fashion week, and the official video for the show was released this morning. Of course, you know that I'm a huge loyal monster so I'm a bit biased here, but I LOVE IT. Everything [...]

The boys seem to be losing their minds and rapidly increasing the alzheimer's disease that Rihanna seems to have started. Yes, it can be passed on. A sign that may indicate if you have it is if you ask the confusing and lifelong question: "What's my name?" "OH NA NA WHAT'S MY FUCKING NAME?" But seriously, everything about Everything Everything's cover of Rihanna' s "What's My Name" rocks. EVERYTHING. Jonathan's squeaky vocals combined with the presence of some girl's (whom I thought was Fergie at first) voice add to this unique, acoustic version of the [...]
You never would have expected such a poppy, happy band like Matt & Kim to release a music video where they both beat each other up with their own instruments. But again, they did release a video where they got mass amounts of food thrown at them. They just like to destroy things. Somehow I can't help but laugh through this entire video. I saw them live when I was in New York almost 2 years ago. Both Matt and Kim are just so happy all the time...they always seem to cheer me up. Go see [...]

Passion Pit kicks off their first project of the year with an exploding remix of Cold War Kids "Mine Is Yours" , which is their first single off of their 3rd studio album of the same name, to be released in just 4 days via Downtown records. Speaking of Passion Pit, I'm STILL waiting for new original material from them!!! Cold War Kids - "Mine Is Yours" (Passion Pit Remix) by vinylandvodka
