FEBRUARY 16TH - OLD QUEENS HEAD - YUKON BLONDE / FOXES / THE RAMSHACKLE UNION BAND - FREE ENTRY!! ---YUKON BLONDE--- Headlining for O!IW this month (the 49th month of oh inverted worldliness) will be Canada's Yukon Blonde . We've loved this band from the first time we heard their souring harmonies and 60s tinged Americana. We're pretty convinced that if you haven't already heard of them you will be mighty happy you now do. Have a little [...]

- JANUARY 19TH AT THE OLD QUEENS HEAD // OH! INVERTED WORLD'S 4TH BEEDAY // WHALES IN CUBICLES + WILDE + SAMUEL DESCHAMPS- Whodda thought we'd make it to a whole four years old! Probably not us who started Oh! Inverted World when drinking with the thought process that this would allow us to have an amazing party with our friends every month with the artists that we love. And probably not theOld Queens Head either who took the chance on us four years ago despite a complete lack of experience and any organisational prowess. O!IW [...]

So back in August 2011 a young lady called Lianne La Havas headlined O!IW and wowed everyone in the room with her properly amazing performance. Marques Toliver and Willy Mason also played with Lianne on a couple of tracks and the packed out room fell in love. Since August Lianne has exploded (not literally, obvs) and been topped by every poll known to man including polls not even about artists that are gonna be big in 2012 – she's just that damn hot. In Feb she's releasing a new EP [...]

December already!? Ah hell, I guess we should be writing some kind of 'End Of The Year Review' or our 'Albums of 20112, or a bunch of New Years resolutions that we ain't ever gonna keep. But that's all a bit boring. So here's a new tune buzzing round the O!IW stereo at the moment from 21 year old Texan Daniel Hunter, better known as Analogue Rebellion . Analogue Rebellion Yep, this track's called "Father Abraham", it's a fine tune and we can only hope [...]
A couple of years ago now Clock Opera played O!IW and we instantly fell in love. Feist we've not had the pleasure of hosting, but we love her a lot all the same. So just IMAGINE how excited we were to hear the two have combined in the shape of a remix. HUZZAH. so here ya go... 'How Come You Never Go There ' remixed by Clock Opera
Coming to an Oh! Inverted World near you (well, if The Old Queens Head in Islington is near you...) on November 17th.

The Serenades are Swedish which automatically means they know more about how to write amazing pop songs than your average human. They are also a duo who feature the lead singer from another O!IW favourite Shout Out Louds. They have their first EP out at the end of the month and I reckon they're just lovely. You can download a free track right now on their website http://www.theserenades.com/ Citizens are a new [...]

Woo, it's the November O!IW line-up! This month we have an exceptional line-up we think you'll agree. Oh, and once again it's FREEEEEEEEE! Check it... - Yadi - Yadi is not like other pop musicians. Poised, petite and powerful, Yadi knows exactly what she wants when it comes to her music, creating forward-thinking, instantly catchy documents of her life experiences so far. At just 23, she is a beautiful bundle of contradictions, the product of a genetic [...]

We had a wonderful performance at Oh! Inverted World a few months back from an artist known as I Am Harlequin , and today I Am Harlequin releases her awesome debut single, "The Liberty / The King's Daughter" which comes highly recommended from the OIW camp. Already proving to be a prolific songwriter in both range and ideas, Anne Frier's (aka I Am Harlequin) sophisticated, off-kilter arrangements owe as much to a classical background as to a veracious love of melody, forming stirring and unforgettable [...]
I'm not sure what it is exactly, but all the Parisians I know seem to exude a coolness that's just not possible for us london folk. A certain je ne sais quoi, if you will. (urgh, yes I just said that...) Back in August we had an artist called Lianne La Havas perform an amazing set at Oh! Inverted World. A couple of weeks after that Lianne went to Paris and recorded a Takeaway show for the phenomenal guys at La Blogothèque . This is the beautiful result:

OCTOBER 20TH - OLD QUEENS HEAD - MECHANICAL BRIDE / BAHAMAS / THE DYING SECONDS - FREE!! -MECHANICAL BRIDE— Mechanical Bride is 25 year old songwriter and self-taught musician Lauren Doss, who made quiet but confident waves back in 2008 with her debut release, a collection of beautiful songs called 'Part II: EPs'. On her new album, 'Living With Ants', Mechanical Bride's debut album proper, is a defiant step up and sees her song writing blossom from the stark, black [...]

It's the end of summer and it's time to buy new stationary and go back to school. Booo! Skool sucks man! Although having not been at school or university for five years now, and the weather never getting above mediocre at best the past few months, I guess it really makes literally no difference to me. Still, I'm waiting (dreaming) for the day when my office breaks up for six weeks in the summer. One day... Aside from the big news that I'm no longer a student and don't enjoy obscenely long holidays, the other news is what's [...]

Fresh off the back of releasing their lauded debut EP "TV" on Oh! Inverted World in the summer, along with headline shows at London's Koko, Music Week's Breakout night, a German tour with The Chapman Family, and support to The Duke Spirit; Sheffield rockers The Violet May will be taking to the road for their own national headline tour this October. The band play across the UK from October 1st with support from Aussie act All Mankind, before ending with a show at Iceland's Airwaves Festival on October 14th. [...]

...was wonderful. Thank you to everyone who came and filled our once a month home at the Old Queens Head. Here are a few photos taken on an iPhone so apologies for the quality. If you happen to have any better photos (and it's likely...) then give us a shout and we'll upload. For now here's some low quality fun. There's also a super nice video of Lianne and Marques playing together which I'll upload soon. Grass House at Oh! Inverted World [...]

Happy Monday folks! So this Thursday, Oh! Inverted World has yet again invited another selection of awesome new acts to play our showcase at London's Old Queens Head, and what a line-up it is... Opening preceedings will be the brilliant Grass House . The 4-piece first grabbed our attention with their ace new single "A Cradle A Short Breath". Have a listen to the track below, and then go buy the postcard version of it for the bargain price of a pound HERE . You can [...]
