Hey kids, so tomorrow night we're off to catch the superhot stylings of Brighton's brightest new things, Mirrors , at Camden Barfly. There's a tune on their myspace called "Into The Heart", which has been going through my head almost constantly this past week, so it's only right that I finally got round to catching a live show and put something up on here about them as they're a bit good this lot. The track is released through Moshi Moshi at the start of next [...]

The past week for me has been relatively shite. From managing to get an infected toe at the start of the week and disgusting everyone within my vicinity at work with my grim foot tales; to getting the worst food poisoning I've ever had after eating the tuna sandwich sent direct from hell; to missing a trip to Scotland with Biffy Clyro due to the persistent vomiting; and finally missing out on Oh, Inverted World's awesome night at Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen with Gaggle , Clock Opera , So Say So and [...]

Woo Hoo! Yes, this Thursday OIW crashlands at Hoxton Bar & Grill with a hotbed of great new bands that we've curated just for you guys. To get you scenesters in the mood here's a taster of the FOUR top acts we've got lined up for you, AND we should also mention that Mr Josh Weller will also be coming down to throw some tunes and keep you dancing all night with our now legendary DJ Dave Depares ... Yep, it's gonna be a hell of a party! Full details at the event [...]

So on November 2nd we're going to be heading down to the Ginglik in Shepherds Bush to demonstrate our SUPREMELY AWESOME DJing skills for the OXBUSH leg of the Oxjam series of charitable gigs. We're stoked to be involved, especially as there's a pretty O,IW friendly line-up going on. Headlined by Alessi's Ark and with our upcoming Old Queens Head stars Treetop Flyers plus Manchester lovely types Run Toto Run . It's going to [...]

Bit of a blog exclusive here. Remember the ill-fated story of the missed train journey on here a couple of weeks back? Well we were off to Sheffield to see Steel City's finest new band, The Violet May . Caz didn't make it, half my whisky pickled brain didn't make it either but it was a treat to have a listen to the guys run through their thumping set in a practice room. See, they're a bit good this lot. There's a story there too if you [...]

There's a hell of a line-up coming up at Hoxton Bar & Kitchen on October 8th with Gaggle , Clock Opera , our favourite band EVER La Shark , AND also the wonderful So Say So who will be joining us to make your heart swoon to their gorgeous tunes. So Say So supported The Veils at a packed out show at London's Scala just over a week ago, hopefully we can give them [...]

The wonderful Clientele return with their new album "Bonfire On The Heath" this November, reminding us to play their records more often. The Clientele have been around for a while now and it's always a joyous occasion to hear their tunes, there's also some shows at the Luminaire and The Lexington (christsakes, The Lexington again!) coming up before the end of the year and well worth leaving the house for, see their myspace for details... www.myspace.com/theclienteleof ficial Here's [...]

October 8th sees the return of OIW's favourite band, La Shark ! The best ever reason we can think of to get to a gig unfashionably early. Expect unmissable theatrics and crafted mayhem, seriously, you need to see these guys to believe! And then you get to see So Say So , followed by Clock Opera , the amazing 22-piece, all female, alternative choir known as Gaggle AND a special guest Josh Weller DJ set too, woo! Here's a brilliant madcap [...]

Super cool ambient French superstars AIR came back onto OIW's stereo last week with a gem of a tune "So Light Is Her Footfall" ahead of their new record out next month, Love 2. We loved Premiers Symptomes, and we adored the Playground Love track from the Virgin Suicides soundtrack. So in even better news, fellow French wunderkids Phoenix have also released a cover of that tune. Aw, nice stuff Frenchies! Here you go folks... AIR - So Light Is [...]

Earlier in the year we had a wonderful OIW night with the awesome exlovers , Pete from the band came back for a solo show a month or so back, and so we were super-proud to see them at their EP launch show at The Lexington last Tuesday with two of our other past OIW acts, Babe Shadow and Planet Earth . Yep, since that OIW show they've had loads of great attention and deserved glowing reviews, put out their first release for the [...]

Holy moly! The next OIW on October 8th is going to feature one of the most amazing spectacles we've ever had. There's brilliant support from Clock Opera , So Say So , La Shark and a special guest Josh Weller DJ set, but most notably, in the headline slot is a 22-piece, all female, alternative choir called GAGGLE ! Yep, it sounds pretty crazy but it's much more amazing than you can imagine. Here's a great [...]

So the OIW "crew" are heading out to inflict our musical tastes on folk and churn up some dancefloors at an Oxjam show next month, as well as appearing at our own bash on October 8th under the guise "Pirates In Love". Here's a taster of some tunes that you might expect to hear but probably won't, either way they're pretty funky for your Friday! Enjoy... Spoon! Spoon - All The Pretty Girls Go To The City [...]

This is where we're going to be On October 8th we're heading East to Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen . We always knew we were cool, but we're pretty stoked to be invited to host a night in Hoxton, the capital of the cool kids. Fittingly we've assembled a pretty awesome line-up that all you good hipsters can name check. " Who you got then? " I hear you sneer, well discernible friends we have Still Flyin' , [...]

Remember way back in January we put Little Death on at Madame Jo Jo's? Their drummer neglected to turn up (we think he left or was never found after that night) but they played a wonderful stripped back set in support of Kyte . Well, we've just caught a glimpse of their new video that you should watch, it's like one of those domino effect set-ups but with more fire, a lot more fire, and hell it's good... Enjoy. Little Death - Cool Lips [...]

So more train journeys this weekend (I seem to spend half my damn life on trains of late!) and I spent a lot of it listening to Kevin Devine . I haven't given any proper "quality" time to Kevin (something train journeys are definitely good for) and when I did, I got completely wrapped up in the intelligent fury of his last record "Brother's Blood". Kevin's songs have an earnest intensity that demands you listen, sometimes he rants at you, sometimes he howls, [...]

Girls are from San Fran and have the kind of sunkissed tunes you'd expect from anyone that side of California, but there's also a great melancholic sadness to them that we really like too. They're at The Lexington (again! Christ, they're good those Lexington scouts) on Monday for what I think is an album launch... We're gonna be there for the exlovers launch the day after too, if only they had rooms to rent there... Anyhow, the cool Matador folk have made [...]

So on the week that Pavement announced they are getting back together (woop!) we're bringing this track back in honour of that. No, no, it's not Pavement, it's Sweden's ace Shout Out Louds with "The Comeback"! Shout Out Louds - The Comeback Download (right click, save as) The Stockholmers are in hibernation at the moment (we haven't been able to confirm whether [...]

Earlier this year OIW were delighted to have one Anna Calvi grace the stage at the Old Queens Head. She was simply amazing that night (not forgetting the brilliant Louis Barabbas, Aaron King and Lail Arad). So we went to see her again at Camden's Jazz Cafe last week with Kaki King and yep, it wasn't the booze, she really is something else that girl! Courtesy of her management (cheers Hiroki!), here's two free tracks for you Oh, Inverted Worlders including "No More Words" which features Dave Okumu from Mercury nominated " The Invisible " no [...]
