![PURE BATHING CULTURE ANNOUNCE FULL-LENGTH, RELEASE NEW SINGLE [FREE MP3]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4964389_lg.jpg)
Portland duo, Pure Bathing Culture , who had one of our favorite EPs of 2012 (and my favorite video ), announced that their frothy brand of effervescent, 802s pop and knack for melody will be back soon on their debut full-length, Moon Tides . Thought the album is set for release on August 20, the band has given us a sampling with the lovely new single, "Pendulum". Sarah Versprille's enchanting vocals bedded on dreamy synths and Daniel Hindman's gleaming guitars make for a warm, euphoric, pretty much perfect pop song. August 20 can't come soon [...]
![SNOWMINE PACKED MERCURY LOUNGE LAST NIGHT [PHOTOS]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4963444_lg.jpg)
For the first time since SXSW, I was blessed with the opportunity to see Brooklyn rockers Snowmine live in action. Though I'm impressed each and every time, last night's show at Mercury Lounge showcased a band that's truly coming into their own with perfectly polished harmonies, second-to-none percussive arrangements, and a badass light show to top it all off. Photos from their set below, taken by yours truly. Snowmine

When a movie is targeting a niche audience, it's important that the soundtrack reflects the tastes and interests of said group. When a soundtrack is filled with directionless angst and mopeyness, it's generally targeting young white kids. So put on your wistful hat (a beret, maybe?), it's time for the top ten. ( Note: the author is a self-proclaimed white 24 year old with a pretty limited worldview. Forgive him.) 1. The Graduate The Graduate is the original soundtrack for white 20-somethings: [...]

Photo by Charlotte Zoller Fans of The National , rejoice. While you might already have tickets to see the band play the massive Barclay's Center in Brooklyn, you might also get to see them play to a far smaller crowd at Manhattan's Mercury Lounge. Play your cards right, and refresh your Ticketmaster page the perfect amount of times, and you'll be in the front row for an extremely intimate time with Matt Berninger and company. Buy your tickets here .

It’s no secret that Palma Violets' “Best of Friends” is in the running for being the song of the summer. With that killer guitar riff and the catchiest chorus this side of a top 40 song, there's no way this tune won't be a sleeper hit. Now, with the premier of the track's video, you can not only listen to “Best of Friends” over and over and over again, but you can revel in the adorableness of the band. Watch the boys run around causing mischief and play a show to a generally unenthused [...]

Random Access Memories doesn't seem to let up, meshing disco, funk, rock, pop, jazz and electronica into one big, tasty, hype-worthy [...]

![LISTEN TO WILSEN’S GORGEOUS COVER OF GRIMES’ ‘OBLIVION’ [STREAM]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4960607_lg.jpg)
We fell in love with Wilsen's understated, electronic folk last year when they released mini-album, Sirens . Fresh off their tour supporting Daughter for the first half of their US dates, Wilsen is releasing "Dusk", their second single from Sirens, on June 10. The b-side is this so-beautiful-it-hurts cover of Grimes' "Oblivion". Keeping with their subdued, dreamy sound, this version doesn't have a "drop", only ghostly, graceful delicacy. It's absolutely gorgeous and absolutely going to make your Monday.

GRAPHIC BY LIZA FARRELL With little word from Joanna Newsom since she dropped her epic triple LP, Have One On Me , in 2010 (with the exception of a new song and a handful of live performances), what better way to hope for a new album than by talking about my favorite songs of hers? Choosing just 20 of Joanna's songs was difficult, as her discography is jam-packed with monumental tracks. This list, however, reflects the best of the best. Obviously, Joanna has definitely progressed and grown as an artist since [...]
![PACIFICUV’S MASTERFUL SPACE POP [STREAM]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4960086_lg.jpg)
Dreams and deep space both contain expansive, limitless domains, always morphing and always mysterious. PacificUV , who hail from Athens, GA, share these qualities, even labeling their sound loosely as both dream pop and space rock. While these two depictions can't fully describe their music, they still help to lay the groundwork. Their fourth record, After the Dream You Are Awake , may very well be their most masterful work to date. The album's impeccable production and mixing lends itself to an overall purity of sound and an extremely [...]

Graphics by Eric Weiner What could be better than a festival of New York City's best food, drink, and music? The answer is nothing. The Great Googa Mooga festival , brought to you by the same folks that put on Bonnaroo, is taking over Brooklyn this weekend for the second year in a row and we couldn't be more excited. After a very successful launch last year, the festival is back and looking to be better than ever. A quick rundown of the best the festival has to offer below! [...]
Graphics by Teresa Yang The time has arrived once again folks - Sasquatch 2013 is just around the corner with a line-up that definitely won't disappoint! Located in scenic, central Washington along the Columbia River, this outdoor festival has long been an indie rock mecca for many. The venue itself features several stages, all of which are set along a majestic panorama of rolling hills and cliffs, providing the perfect backdrop for shows at the main Sasquatch Stage. Founded in 2002 by Pacific Northwest-based concert promoter, Adam Zacks, the festival began humbly as a one day [...]

Celebrities cameo in music videos all the time. Whether it’s a way for them to launch an image makeover (Megan Fox hoping to be a serious actress in “Love the Way You Lie”) or just an excuse to make out with their significant other (all eyes on Ben Affleck slapping J.Lo’s ass), big stars seem to love lending their famous faces to help videos get more play. Once in a great while, the celebrity cameo goes beyond the usual eye-rolling “look at me” antics and is genuinely hilarious. So, take a load-off and watch some amazing [...]
![MAGIC MAN RELEASE EP AND TOUR WITH MS MR [STREAM]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4956504_lg.jpg)
Big things are happening for Providence-based, synth rockers Magic Man . In the past few weeks, they’ve announced getting signed to Neon Gold/Columbia Records, released a three-track anthology, The Fox Den Demos , and embarked on a tour with MS MR . Their three new songs, “Paris”, “Texas”, and “Nova Scotia”, each have unique personalities as different as the places they’re named for. What they have in common, though, is the core of Magic Man’s sound, driving percussiveness beneath layers of twinkling pianos and synths, crinkling lo-fi noises and [...]
We are delighted to be premiering the video for Dear Georgiana's confectionary, 1960s girl-pop tune, "Wanna Be In Love", which contains just as much sweet nostalgia as her sound. The video features Lauren Balthrop ( Dear Georgiana ) as a girl pining for love in the place where all young girls do their pining - in their poster-for-wallpaper rooms, on their beds, in their cutest outfits, of course. Watch as she croons her candied tune in the visual contexts of four decades - the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s - because the longing-for-love [...]
![LITTLE CHILDREN’S DREAMY, SCENIC FOLK [STREAM]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4954547_lg.jpg)
Little Children is the moniker of Swedish music-maker, Linus Lutti, who possesses the ability to craft scenic landscapes of sound that are equal parts light and fog. His dreamy folk gem, “In Hau”, is more a living, breathing habitat than it is a “track”, expanding and evolving in front of our eyes for its six minute lifespan. I can’t shake the foggy sunrise vibes that I get every time I listen to it, which is why I hit repeat several times before moving on. January’s In Hau EP was followed in [...]

Brooklyn-based, indie pop outfit Small Black returned this week with their sophomore effort Limits of Desire , and while it blends more into the background than stands out amongst the band's contemporaries, the music represents a solid effort thats awash with plenty of glistening, sparkly, summer sounds. When discussing Limits of Desire , one thing should be made clear up front - you've heard this record before, both as a whole and in separately dissected parts. From the uptempo rhythms to the slow, melting synths, just about every aspect of [...]
Over three years ago, when I was just getting The Wild Honey Pie going, I bought two Flip cameras and started filming with bands that I loved. One of those bands was Brooklyn-based band Savoir Adore , who were kind enough to let me film them in the parking lot of a church down in Austin, Texas during SXSW. Fast-forward to about a month ago when Paul and Deidre appraoched me about recording a new Buzzsession at their studio in Williamsburg, to which I replied, "hell yeah!" We filled the room with fog, put some pretty [...]

![“HEY MAMI” LISTEN TO THIS TRACK ASAP! [STREAM]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4953004_lg.jpg)
Quick - clear fifteen minutes to listen to this! "Hey Mami" only about three and a half minutes long, but you're going to want to listen to it at least five times on the immediate. I've had it on repeat all day long. Sylvan Esso is Amelia Meath of Mountain Man and Nick Sanborn of Megafaun who have teamed up to create music that sounds exactly like you'd expect from such a mash-up made in heaven, but even better. Meath provides the striking, silvery vocals backed by [...]
