Trying to get back on the saddle here. The holiday season was just too busy! Sorry about that folks. It's a new year so hopefully a more solid Musicphileosophy.com too! Anyway, haven't heard anything from Tanlines in forever (then again, I have been waaay out of the loop). The Brooklyn-based duo recently came out with a new track from their up-and-coming album Mixed Emotions that is set to be released on March 20th. Addicting beat, good enough to get me started on a blog post after so long! [...]

Just when you thought this blog was dead. Messages From The Stars - The RAH Band

Hope everyone is having a relaxing Sunday! The weather situation here in the East Coast only means we're on the brink of switching seasons. I on the other hand would like to combat the feelings brought about by the dreary clouds and rain and maybe put a little "umph" into your Sunday. I thought an upbeat tune and a stunning photo of Giselle is just what you need. Games is a "synth collaboration" comprised of Daniel Lopatin (Ohneohtrix Point Never) and Joel Ford (Tigercity). This track is an awesome example of how songs should be [...]

Web silence is over! I'm sorry for disappearing for 2 months. Life has been all a blur for the past 5 months. But now that I finally got a job offer, things are looking up. I can set aside the many hours of laboring over online applications, emailing employers and cold calling upper management and finally allot time to the things I enjoy! Hopefully I haven't lost that much readers yet! New Look - Janet

As always, I get giddy when Hawthorne does a cover/collaboration with another artist. Mainly because never fails to add something incredible to the original thing. Andrew Mayer Cohen, you sure know how to make the ladies swoon. Put this on your midnight tempo playlist and you're set! When The Night Falls (Mayer Hawthorne Cover) - Chromeo

One of my favorite producers from Down Under, Flight Facilities, comes out with a new banging track that will put the swing back half way thru summer! You can purchase the track from iTunes here .

Luke Million, the other half of Australian duo The Swiss comes out with this sultry tropical disco track that is now available on Future Classic .

Mixing it up this week. This is taken from the 2006 album of Sergio Mendes, Timeless . It's a great album comprising of collaborations between Mendes and a few neo-soul and alternative hip hop artists. Berimbau has always been one of my favorite bossanova songs and this version definitely does justice to the original track. Berimbau Feat. Stevie Wonder - Sergio Mendes

Who ever thought a Tracy Chapman track could be remixed? Job well done by Australian DJ, PayDay .

Taking baby steps back into the blogosphere! Here are two awesome remixes of Breakbot's latest beauty. I've recently been walking quite a distance to the subway (around four avenue blocks) and the past week these have kept me company through that long ass trek. I sort of step to the beat...which means I'm boogieing all the way from York to Lexington like a retard. Also, if you don't know who the girl in the photo is, please do yourself a favor and get this month's issue of GQ. Not only does it have Ms. Kunis on the cover, [...]

Today is officially the start of summer and the longest day of the year. Time to break a sweat under the sun people! I know I've been off my game lately but that's because I'm currently busy trying to ease my way into the work force. Slowly but surely, am I right or am I right? Anyway, I just felt like I should re-post this summer gem of last year. In The Summer (Picture House's 'Summer In The Balearics' Mix) - Crystal Fighters

And we're back up! Hope you guys enjoy this one. Some really great tracks came out the past month (maybe one or two even before) and they are all summertime appropriate. Download the mix here (63.12MB) Tracklist: I'll update this later because I'm doing this remotely away from my laptop but these are some of the tracks on this months mix. Vetiver - Can't You Tell Vacationer - Trip Tonight's [...]

Summer is here and you need those pool party tunes to get you through the blistering heat. Zimmer's music is a feel good, body-warming and enthusiastic wave that goes straight to the heart and stays until the end of the night. Growing up between France and California, this young producer is a gentle combination of both worlds : west coast carefree attitude with a twist of parisian chic. Call it horizontal disco or elegant funk, he's all about groove, with [...]

I just watched The Mechanic starring Jason Statham yesterday with a few friends. As like other espionage movies, I enjoyed it. I was never really a believer in Statham's ability as an action star but just like his role in Snatch, this one was an A in the ass-kicking division. Right up there with Liam in Taken. Anyway, there was one scene where a burial is taking place and as Statham is walking away, this song kicks in. I was immediately taken by it and looked it up online. Nuru Kane is a Senegalese singer/songwriter. This track is [...]

I'm back folks! After a month of silence, I have the time to to post again. I've been receiving emails about my absence and some have posted on the chatbox as well, so I'd like to apologize to all of the readers for being M.I.A. My family came to visit for a month and it was quite a hectic trip. 5 different states and touring them around NYC was tiring but fun! And as of last May 21, I'm officially unemployed, so if by any chance any of you record label honchos end up reading this and are looking to [...]

I'm on a roll with these acts out of Oz. Reggie "Ta-Ku" Matthews was a recent Red Bull Academy participant. This guy is a genius with his beats. This track of his has a Dam-Funk vibe and I'm loving it through and through. Check him out as well as his other tracks here . Hey Kids - Ta-Ku

Daktal is a new electronic band based in Melbourne, Australia. It is composed of brothers Jacob and Jerome Farah. They just sent over a few unofficial remixes of a few tracks about an hour ago. Interesting stuff! Be Easy (Daktal Remix) - Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings Time (Daktal Remix) - O'Spada

YES to Disco! Al White is from Sydney, Australia and he provided me with a track that will keep my ears busy the next few days or so. Another favorite of mine is his track that samples Sly & The Family Stone's If You Want Me To Stay . Check it out here . F.I.L.W.M. - Al White

Such great weather in the city today. Felt compelled to post one of my go-to tunes for a day like this. It never fails to serve as the perfect walking music here in NYC! La Ritournelle (Mr. Dan's Magic Wand Mix) - Sebastien Tellier

Me Gusta is a hip hop production duo out of San Jose, California. This track came out a month ago but it's still hot as ever. Very chill. Check out more of Me Gusta here . $arah - Me Gusta
