I've been meaning to write about The Shouting Matches .Peter's drummer and other half of Peter Wolf Crier , Brian Moen got a new gig playing with Justin Vernon and Phil Cook and their record is called "Grownass Man" so it's prettay prettay good. Filled with fun jams with feel good melodies, and a welcomed departure from Bon Iver's melancholic tunes. Been really into this record. The Shouting Matches - New Theme

Overseas is a supergroup featuring one of my favourite artists, Dave Bazan, along with some of his favourites: Will Johnson of Centro-Matic and South San Gabriel,  brothers Matt and Bubba Kadane of Bedhead and The New Year. This song has been my jam today. Pickwick ft Sharon Van Etten covering Richard Swift's "Lady Luck". They've got a covers EP coming out tomorrow, I'm really looking forward to it!

Sharon Van Etten covered Nick Cave's "People Ain't No Good" while she was in Australia, and it flawless. You gotta watch this one.

Secret Mountains is a band I've really enjoyed for a couple of years now. I was stoked to see them do a Shaking Through session a while back and have been eagerly awaiting news of a full-length album. Entitled, "Rainer" the band's first full length will come out on Feb 26th by the always awesome Friends Records, outta Baltimore. You can pre-order the vinyl here . This dreamy track flew into my inbox the other day and I'm so glad I caught it. The band is called Lovelier Other and the song is called Leave This Behind . It's definitely got that Sigur Ros softness. I don't know much else about this band but I'm looking forward to hearing more. Leave this behind by Lovelier Other

This is the most mellow music I could possibly listen to after a long day of using my brain to make thousands of micro decisions at a desk sitting still. Sometimes, you just feel like melting into the couch. This is the kind of sound you'd want to melt with, trust me. Look out for their new record via Secretly Canadian next year.

My old friend Chad Houseman recently released a digital album under the moniker Tom Hymn, entitled " new mexican new year ". I haven't heard from him in years, but then I received an email about his music and ended up listening to it all evening. His vocals and lyrics remind me a lot of Paleo, but a little more folky. New video for "Who Knew" from You Won't . I've said this a few times, but I absolutely love this band. This video is a must-see - I watched it straight through to the end, no skims! It's amazing and weird. Really wish they were coming through here on their upcoming tour!

I posted about Buke and Gase not too long ago and I recently realized they have a new EP out called Function Falls, so I just purchased a digital copy and my mind is melting to the song, "Misshaping Introduction". This is what the future sounds like and I'm in love with it. The EP explores more technical sounds and the vocals themselves serve as another part of the instrumentation, lending itself to a good flow. The whole EP is streaming over at their Bandcamp .
