Elbows is a collection of great music blog posts and is meant to provide you a snapshot of what's going on in this new genre of blogging. Please take the time to visit each of the blogs listed on this page to learn more about new artists and buy their albums and, when you're through buying up all the CDs or iTunes tracks, click on some of the blog's sponsors so that they may keep providing us with such great information.

We don't condone piracy. The act of pulling out and identifying the music files is simply a way to categorize the posts if tagged correctly. Please visit the blog and read the post.

Elbows parses your pages for links that end in 'mp3'. If you host your songs on a server that doesn't link directly to the mp3 file, we won't be able to pick it up.

Elbo.ws supports yousendit.com and FileDEN. Elbo.ws will follow these links and figure out the file info (as long as the id3v2 is intact).

Have a favorite service that isn't listed here? Tell us about it - I'm sure we can work something out.


In order for your track info to be catalogged correctly, be sure that your mp3 has valid id3 v1.1 or v2 tags. If you need to edit your id3 tags, we recommend Tag & Rename.


Although Elbows is only meant to give our users a taste of something different so that they can discover new artists, buy their albums, tell their friends, go to their shows and make them pretty darn popular with little or no effort or budget on the part of the artist or label, we understand that there may be some legal issues with the tracks listed on the site. Email us at info@elbo.ws and we will have it removed as soon as possible.


We are not currently hosting mp3s on our site. To be honest, the best way to get your stuff added to elbows is to distribute some free mp3s to the music bloggers. BUT if you really want to send us free schwag, email us at info@elbo.ws for a mailing address. Anything you send will probably be for our own entertainment as we do not write editorial on this site.


Each blog should be pulled once time each hour. We started breaking it up so that it pulls a bunch every 15 mins.


Well, it's actually a complicated algorithm designed by MIT grad students.. just kidding. It's actually just a plain text query sorted by date. If you search for make believe, you get all the posts that contained the words make and believe. However, if you search with quotes: "make believe", you get all of the posts that contain the phrase make believe. You can pair up phrases with single words like weezer "make believe" in order to find all the posts that contain the word weezer and the phrase make believe

Add http://elbo.ws/ping/ to your 'Update Services' area:

Movable Type - Log in to your account and go to the 'Configuration' section and click on 'Preferences'. Scroll down to the area where you can find: 'Publicity / Remote Interfaces / TrackBack'. Add http://elbo.ws/ping/ to other notification services.

WordPress - Log in to your account and go to the 'Options' section. Click on the 'Writing' tab. Scroll down to 'Update Services' and add http://elbo.ws/ping/ to the box.
