If you've been following Knox Road for a few years, the name Eli et Papillon may sound familiar because of one of the most bizarre episodes I've ever written about. I'm still totally confused about what exactly happened, as are Eli et Papillon. But you know what? It doesn't matter to either of us anymore, and I'd rather just focus on the French Canadian duo's stunning debut self titled full length. Each song is a spectacle unto itself, with vivid keys and Elise's poised voice. The LP is the definition of a picturesque album with charming [...]

You might remember that we had Shape Navigator (Peter Coyte) a while back , from the time in the early 90s that he was on Guerilla Records. He's kindly sent over a few unreleased tracks for your listening pleasure. Of the four, go for Borealis . Asked why he'd released the tracks, he said " I recently bought a DAT machine on Ebay and was going through my old tapes and have been on a bit of a nostalgia trip about Shape Navigator ." So, to the tracks. First, an early version of the track Flow , originally [...]
Coming off a year of can't-do-wrong press and one of the year's best records so far , throwback lo-fi soul sensation Willis Earl Beal allegedly did wrong this past weekend in Utrecht. WEB was in the Netherlands for the Le Guess Who? festival and at some point was bothered by an interaction with a homeless person to the point of giving said homeless man's face the business end of his Willis Earl boot. A spokesperson for the singer told NME that Willis was arrested and eventually released without charge. In this [...]
As someone who has listened to Rising at the gym nearly every day for the past six months or so, I highly approve of their music being used in this promo for "Absurd Fitness".

Prior to the release of their sophomore album , Mumford and Sons will host a series of mini music festivals in the U.S. in August. The Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers will take place in four different cities (Portland, ME, Bristol, VA, Dixon, IL, and Monterey, CA), and will see the band headline alongside acts like St. Vincent, Gogol Bordello, Dawes, Justin Townes Earle, Grouplove, and more. We know The Killers are releasing a new album this year but now we can fill in a few more blanks. First of all, the album's name is Battle Born and it's expected to be released sometime this fall. In an interview with Rolling Stone (via CoS ), frontman Brandon Flowers explained the reason behind the title. He said, "In a sense, all Americans are battle born. Our ancestors came here for something better." He also revealed some of the song titles which included "Heart Of A [...]
BNR has been a staple of all things weird and electro-y for a while now; brainchild of Alex Riddha its been a driving force in electro for over 5 years. Today the German label releases the second volume of their BNR compilation. There's probably a big benefit to being signed to a label like Frenchkiss Records, and Races will hopefully continue to reap the rewards. The band's debut Year of the Witch is out now--they're hard at work on the follow-up as well. However, in the meantime they'll be heading out on to the road for a series of shows. They hit up Mercury Lounge on July 27 and Glasslands on the 28th, both in New York City. The full schedule is below. Races tour dates: 07/17 - Larimer [...]

Primero fue " Al-Qiyamah ", luego " Now You Do ", y ahora es momento de escuchar "Transparency Pt. II".

When Nick Oliveri isn't involved in a SWAT standoff or performing naked, he's busy making gnarly music. The former Kyuss & QOTSA bassist has been recording as Mondo Generator since his departure and reteamed with the frontmen of his former bands on his latest album, Hell Comes To Your Heart . Stream the track below. Glad to see that Oliveri and Josh Homme have smoothed things over enough to work together. Some of those QOTSA tracks that Oliveri sang on are still some of my favorites.

The first rapper who showed up twice in our Mixtape Of The Week column was Seattle's Nacho Picasso, who teamed up with the hometown production crew Blue Sky Black Death on For The Glory and Lord Of The Fly . The combination of Nacho's nasally grimy death-obsessed stoner-talk and BSBD's headblown synthscapes is a potent one indeed, and so it's good news for everyone that they've gone back to the well again. Today, they came out with their third collaborative full-length. This one is called Exalted [...]

The words '20 piece instrumental ensemble' can strike panic in the hearts of many a pop music lover. It's not something that you generally associate with being in any way accessible. Well, philistines fear not. Producing works as approachable as 1969, a story about John Lennon, and collaborating with the likes of the Dirty Projectors, Alarm Will Sound can easily be considered classical music for a modern audience. In keeping with their explorative nature, they've tackled the intricate works of IDM virtuoso Aphex Twin with their 2005 album Acoustica , which mainly covers [...]

Swans fans rejoice; the momentous rock outfit have released details of their forthcoming new full-length, The Seer . Gira himself releases the following statement about the album: [...]
