De song vs de geschiedenis: Randy Newman - A Few Words in Defense of Our Country Randy Newman heeft een nieuw album, Harps and Angels , uit. En deze keer is het geen soundtrack voor een Pixarfilm. Geen zingend speelgoed, auto's of monters maar vintage Newman, de auteur van een reeks cynische en sarcastische nummers met als bekendste titels Political Science en Rednecks (maar hij heeft er nog veel meer). Zijn productiefste periode was in de jaren '70, waarin hij een aantal classics bij elkaar pende. De afgelopen 20 jaar schreef hij dus voornamelijk soundtracks (20 stuks) en slechts drie albums.
