Last year, the album that completely caught me off guard was Battles - Mirrored . This year it's Antidotes from the UK band Foals . Some people say that this band is classified as 'dance-rock', but I'm not sure how accurate that is. They're more like the evil twin of Bloc Party . With their poly-rhythmic tapping guitars and spaced out vocals, the band ends up sounding like a chaotic swarm of birds that finally come together and move beautifully in-sync.
