When I think of thriving music scenes, I don't usually think of Russia. Why? No particular reason I can think of. Sure, Russia usually pops into my conciousness whenever Eurovision comes around, as they typically have a cracking technopop entry every year. But otherwise - I suppose like many Westerners - I tend to default to the European Union when searching for music. Somehow my musical circumnavigation of the globe never quite makes it up to the former U.S.S.R. Well, shame on me for my short-sighted musical travels! [...]
