
Necessity is the mother of inventions they say; in the heart of the Bronx in New York City a Jamaican born DJ looped some rhythmic patterns on his turntables and hip-hop was born. The year 1971, birth place 1520 Sedgwick Avenue, Bronx, New York. This was the beginning of a cultural movement. With other DJs such as Grand Wizard Theodore, Grandmaster Flash and Jazzy Jay modifications were made such as scratching and cutting.
