The Strokes are one of my favorite bands of all time , not just the 2000s. If lyrics come first for you, then you have to love Julian Casablancas, whose writing reflects both the possibilities and anxieties of life in modern times. Add to that great writing the virtuoso lead guitar work of Nick Valensi, the rock star strut of guitarist Albert Hammond Jr, and the solid rhythm section of Nikolai Fraiture (bass) and Fab Moretti (drums), and you've got the foundation for an all-time act.
