While in Munich for Christmas, I was gifted with a night at the Deutsches Theater (a huge permanent "tent" as part of the Arena complex), to see the Guangzhou Acrobatics Troupe's production of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake. It's exactly like a Harlem Globetrotters/Nureyev mashup. And don't bother asking about Tchiakovsky, the music was clearly not important to any of it. Piped in, transmitted through tinny speakers, assaulting our ears at varied volumes of unimportance, the "dancers" strutted their stuff and paused for applause at all the "right" times, paying absolutely no mind to the music.
