Today is Martin Luther King, Jr. day , a holiday that is observed on the third Monday of January each year around the time of the birthday of Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. (January 15th). In addition to being an ordained clergyman, King was an activist and prominent leader in the American civil rights movement.
