
Full disclosure: I'm from Little Rock, Arkansas. Imagine my delight when I randomly discovered American Princes, a local Arkansas band, 600 miles away in Austin playing the Fader Fort during SXSW. Described by Magnet magazine as "dewdrop guitar effects and dead-on Tears For Fears vocal forays," American Princes "borrows and steals from decades-old college rock." This seemed like a pretty accurate description to me. Co-frontmen Colins Kilgore and David Slade inject fast-paced pop lyrics on top of former-Evanescene bassist Will Boyd's catchy bass lines.
