New York's Cheval Sombre takes a sedate approach to songwriting. The one-man band's vocals and chords--instead of standing in front of it all--meld into the music's atmospheric drones, making it somewhat of a hypnotic affair. Sombre's probably influenced by psychedelic music, but the execution is too clean to start calling the music "druggy." Maybe this is music for the sober psyche fan.
