
When the first Sweet Relief album was released way back in 1993, the foremost questions in my mind were, "Who the hell is Victoria Williams and how did she get all these folks to cover her tunes." The idea of the tribute album seemed wonderful: use hip and well-known artists as vectors to expose more listeners to under appreciated artists, thereby saving them from eternal "cult" status or, as in the case with both Sweet Relief releases, daunting medical bills.
