A Place to Bury Strangers is a New York–based indie rock band composed of Oliver Ackermann (guitar/vocals), Jono MOFO (bass) and Jay Space (drums). Formed in 2003, the so-called " New York City's loudest band " plays a heavy, atmospheric wall of sound-influenced blend of shoegaze, garage, psychedelic and space rock. Mainly responsible for their '80s feedback-drenched drones are the effects pedals designed and built by Ackermann who also provides custom effects equipment to other rock bands such as U2, TV On The Radio and My Bloody Valentine.
