In the latest sign that "pop music" is breathing its last gasp in 2009, the late Michael Jackson just scooped up five nominations for this year's American Music Awards-including two "Favorite Album" nods for Number Ones , a greatest-hits compilation that was put out in 2003 . (The nominees were in part derived from SoundScan data, and Number Ones is currently leading the album-sales pack for 2009; still, what does this say about music right now, etc.) Taylor Swift has the highest number of nominations, with six overall.
