
Athens, GA was a Mecca for fresh young bands in the late '70s and early '80s. While local heroes the B-52's and R.E.M. took the lion's share of attention, there was an unfortunate disconnect between Pylon 's quirky brand of angular pop and commercial success. Despite their greatness, Pylon imploded only a few years into their career and called it quits in 1991 after three albums.
