I recently began compiling my best of the year lists and realized that I've only read three new books this year (the rest were classics). So I need your help! Comment to this post with new book (published in 2009) recommendations. Please include the title, author, and a brief plot summary. I prefer fiction, but I'll also consider non-fiction if the topic interests me enough. I'm not into detective mysteries, horror, so-called "chick lit" or romance, but otherwise I'm open to anything.
