
Last night, Alicia Keys appeared on The Colbert Report to promote her new album, The Element of Freedom , with a stripped-down piano version of her smash collaboration with Jay-Z, "Empire State of Mind." About halfway through the song, Stephen Colbert bounded on stage to much applause, clad in a black sweatshirt and hood, and proceeded to diss NYC by rapping about the the advantages of suburban life: "Shopping mall is close, my community is gated/All my shorties are private school-educated."
