TLC's Best of the Noughties: 2005
In my opinion 2005 marked a turning point for music, the evolution of a new sphere of influence. Artists like M.I.A., Madonna, Bloc Party and Goldfrapp pushed pop music into a much-welcomed harder electronic direction while Arcade Fire [released in 2005 in the UK] birthed one of the most beautiful albums of our time, Funeral. Many of 2005's musicians took the opportunity to voice their displeasure with the state of the world/politics (namely with the re-election of President Bush) on the record and in turn created a sense of artistic revolt.
