My best friend fell in love when I played her Slaid Cleaves' "Cry" from his latest album, "Everything You Love Will Be Taken Away." It's flat-out gorgeous. My friend and I both love Cleaves' lyrics, too; they're clever, wry and often poignant. The Krayolas' new album, "Long Leaf Pine (No Smack Gum)," also got a ton of play in my house this year.
