Above is Canada's beloved and bespectacled musical linguist Laura Barrett with the video for 'The Wood Between Worlds'. Plucking clock like tones on her signature instrument the kalimba (an African thumb-piano, literally translated as "little music"), her voice warms with rich melodies and arrangements. Riding high from her Earth Sciences EP, which garnered both national radio airplay and critical acclaim, she's jumped on tour with The Magnetic Fields (dates below) for an eleven-date North American tour.
