We're not gonna lie to you, we're still not sure how to feel about perma-hot-shit quintet Hot Chip . It would be far too easy (and irresponsible) to simply dismiss them as vacuous dance music because there are serious songwriterly chops buried among the borderline synths and effect du-jour Auto-Tune treatments. Take their newest album, One Life Stand (out Feb 9th on Astralwerks). This might be the first existential dance record we can recall.
