The new Torche EP, Songs for Singles , may not exactly be what you'd expect. There's little of the dense metallic sludge that the band built their reputation on. Instead we're offered a breakneck roller coaster of furious grooves that virtually flies by by with eight songs clocking in at just over twenty minutes. Extended fuzzed-out jams are in short supply here, with only the pummeling 6-minute closer, "Out Again," receiving the epic treatment.
