It seems that becoming a household name has been Philly's hip-hop vets  The Roots ' mission, what with the release of their ninth full-length record How I Got Over earlier this year along with the recently released Wake Up! collaboration with  John Legend  (as well as their on-going stint with  Jimmy Fallon ). Despite all of this, the band has not forgotten their true rap roots and have recently given a head-nod to legendary Los Angeles pioneers  N.W.A.  by performing "Straight Outta Compton" during their September 18th concert in Chicago with  Q-Tip .
