I think you could make a compelling argument that punk ended in England when Sid Vicious died, and in America, when The Decline of Western Civilization was released. From that point forward, people focused on copying something that had already been done. Punk was intended to be anti-fashion, anti-conformist and frequently political, suggesting that you question authority.
