Like their previous 7″ singles, “Younger Us,” and “Art Czars," “Heavenward Grand Prix” relies a lot on immediacy. Like the other singles, these songs are about volume, about rocking out. These are songs to be shouted, not studied. These are songs about youth and girls and not caring about much else, and sometimes that’s all a song needs. Unlike their previous 73 singles, "Heavenward Grand Prix" chops the usual Japandroids tempo in half, something the duo really didn't bother with even on their standout Post-Nothing LP.
