by ill? ya! (NYC) Highest on my list this week are the two Monarch!/Bloody Panda shows. Monarch! - from France - play dark, ritualistic funeral doom. Bloody Panda are similar in style, but throw in an unsettling layer of chanting/shrieking in Japanese, courtesy of Yoshiko Ohara, sometimes also backed by throat singing.
