
Much has already been written on Colin Stetson ’s method of creating his new album, so I’ll just give the quick version: with the exception of the vocals, everything you’re hearing is saxophone. Stetson uses clever microphone placement to capture a wide range of sounds from his instrument, and as if that restriction wasn’t enough, he also recorded the songs live, in single takes, with no overdubs.
