The nominations for the Mercury Music Awards were announced last night. It’s very unlikely the list will take anyone off guard, at times it reads like a checklist of potential UK exports, but regardless, it’s solid. The biggest surprise this year was the inclusion of Gwilym Simcock ’s jazz album, Good Days at Schloss Elmau, a delightful little album that more than deserves to be there.
