
Restless, I went outside and happened upon the death of the day. The sky was a shiny, sheer dark blue, the colour of freezing waterfalls, of bruises at their most tender, of the sea when it thinks no-one is looking. Over to the west it was slightly lighter, as it the last of the day had gathered in a corner like the last few guests at an crazy house party.
